The NES classic: The Legend of Zelda was supposed to be remade for the original Game Boy.
Yoshiki Okamoto of Capcom approached Miyamoto with the idea and after a lot of talking, he was permitted to create the remake.
Unfortunately Okamoto had too much work and couldn’t really get involved with the development of the remake.
His team however kept going and tweaked the original overworld map so much that it looked like an entire new game. The remake was therefor cancelled and the hard work eventually resulted in the Oracle Games on Game Boy Color.
