The PAW Patrol Day festival is almost here, and everyone in Adventure Bay is excited – everyone except Mayor Humdinger and his Kitten Catastrophe Crew, that is. Humdinger has taken all the festival posters and he’s causing mayhem in his new super blimp! It’s going to take the whole bunch of good pups – Chase, Skye, Marshall, Rubble, Zuma, Rocky, Everest and Tracker – with their unique skills to stop Humdinger and make the festival PAWsome.
Experience a new PAW Patrol story, TV show flashback, plus bonus missions you’ll find as you explore.
So, jump into the wide world of PAW Patrol! Freely roam Adventure Bay, Jake’s Mountain, the Jungle and Barkingburg, in missions designed for pre-school players. Enjoy a brand-new story and play flashback missions inspired by classic PAW Patrol episodes, either in single-player or with a friend in split-screen co-op mode. And customize your game with countless collectibles, like emotes, pup tags, postcard stamps, costumes, vehicle stickers, and artworks for the Chickaletta Exhibition.
One or two players can control every PAW Patrol pup including Chase, Skye, Marshall and Everest, each with unique skills.
When I first heard we would have free roaming in the Paw Patrol world, I felt like it sparked my curiosity but also some worries about how well would they be able to pull this off? It is one thing to make an amazing kids’ game, but it is another thing to make it massive in size, and well, free-roaming usually comes at the expense of worlds being either half-empty or Non-Playable Characters being about as mindless as can be.
Paw Patrol World does do things right, introducing hundreds of collectibles spread all over, having side missions all over to get even more, and well, that is without even mentioning the main missions. This game is actually the perfect collectathon game and while it is never challenging at all, which is perfect for its intended audience, there are also very few downsides to this amazing game. I would say that aside from the awkward camera controls, you would not expect there to be any real issues.
At least from what I have seen so far, just a few hours in, this game is turning out to be really fun to play. The camera is sadly influenced by the field of vision of where the doggie is looking, not separate and controllable from the right stick really. I know this game is intended to be as easily accessible as possible, it is just unusual for someone used to all sorts of other action games to be so limited suddenly. Not a dig at the game, just a remark that it does feel unusual. I am however quite sure that the youngest gamers among us will have no problems at all and they will be switching pups on the fly to get their current mission under their belt.
In conclusion, Paw Patrol World is yet another amazing example of how children’s games are meant to be made. In this specific case, the world is big and there are puppy treats all over!
