Peppa Pig is a true phenomenon amongst children worldwide, and the upcoming My Friend Peppa Pig is shaping up to become the perfect playable version of the popular cartoon. I was able to play the beginning of the game and although I’m clearly not the targeted audience, I did see the quality of this adorable adventure.
Create your new friends
As the title already gives away, you’re in control of Peppa Pig’s new best friend. At the start of my demo, I was able to customize my own cute dog character to fit the world of Peppa Pig. This customization really offers a lot of fun since it goes a bit further than just your regular colors. You can add fun accessories to your new character to spark the imagination of the player. I ended up playing with a cool pirate hat-wearing dog who was ready to start his adventure with Peppa Pig.
Once I created my character, the fun began. The game is created like a sandbox game, meaning you’ll have tons of freedom to where you want to go. Of course, since it’s targeted at younger gamers, you’re a bit limited in your options so you always have a decent overview of what this colorful world has to offer. Basically, you’re running to the left or right, ending in a different iconic destination you’ll recognize from the cartoon. My first walk ended at the house of Peppa, where I was introduced to the cute little family. The fun part of the game is the fact that you can interact with almost everything you see, making it more fun to walk around in this cute world. The actual gameplay kicked in when certain characters lost certain items I had to find. It’s all pretty standard but this item fetching is a great way of discovering everything the world has to offer. While you’re on a quest, you’ll go from one section to another without ever getting bored. Along the way, you’ll run into a puddle to jump in or a kite you can use for a fun little game. All those little moments are taken from the cartoon and will certainly ring a bell for fans of the franchise.
Early conclusion:
What My Friend Peppa Pig does best is giving you enough freedom and things to do to make sure you’ll have fun discovering every little secret the gorgeously created world has to offer. I love the number of details that went into the creation of this interactive world, which really looked identical to a cartoon show. It’s clear to see that this game will be a major hit if you’re a fan of the Peppa Pig show.
