Indie Corner: Active Neurons 3 – Wonders of the World

Welcome to our review of Active Neurons 3, the third game in a series that I just adore so very much.

A puzzle that trains spatial and logical thinking. Power up your brains! Active Neurons – Wonders of the World is the third and final installment in the Active Neurons series.

In the game, you have to follow 3 simple steps:
1) Collect energy
2) Charge your brain
3) Explore Wonders of the World

But are these steps that easy? Try it yourself and you will find out everything! Look for the right way to energy. Avoid dangerous obstacles. Teleport from one space to another to get closer to your goal. Solve tasks on memory, logic, and orientation in space to get to the blocked areas. Destroy, move and combine objects on the levels to get to energy sources.

Main Features:
– A lot of levels;
– 20 types of unique mechanics;
– Ability to combine mechanics;
– Nice minimalistic style with beautiful graphic effects;
– Pleasant musical and audio accompaniment, improving immersion in the gameplay.

I just adored the previous two games and I can only say this third game is just more of that amazing puzzle madness and it comes with a twist. It becomes clear pretty quickly that this is the harder of the three games due to the addition of one main puzzle mechanic, the ability to move certain blocks on the playing field.

At one point, they will allow you to either form a needed stop or a needed pass through to get to the other side, but at all times will they be adamant in the bigger picture. Your ability to pass a level will depend solely on being able to work with or around this game mechanic and this is quite simply put the ultimate addition to the game.

For those unaware of what this game is, it is basically a sliding game where you have obstacles and you just need to get to the home base by using everything on the playing field. The mechanics involved include detonating obstacles, using keys, … A lot can be done and while this third installment is more of the usual, that additional mechanic sure raised the bar a lot.

Most of the puzzles are quite easy at first, it always pays off to just restart. Restarting is not punished in any way, so feel free to experiment, even though in most cases just one solution is available.

In my previous reviews, I have mentioned this game should have thousands of more levels, which I still stand by. Despite this being the final installment, I really hope more will come, more fun, more levels, and more puzzling. This game is just amazing in its simplicity and at the same time in its toughness. The perfect balance and the game just keep teaching you to think out of the box.

In conclusion, Active Neurons 3 – Wonders of the World is an amazing little puzzler that sadly ends the trilogy of games. An amazing trilogy for avid puzzle lovers all around the world!
