Welcome everyone to our coverage of “State of Play – Sony Playstation” of February 2021! Let’s enjoy the show and stick around for the latest news!
Starting off with Crash Bandicoot 4 “It’s about time!” on the PS5. That includes adaptive triggers, enhanced 3D audio, and 4k on 60fps! The setting is all about Dr. Neo Cortex escaping an interdimensional prison leaving chaos behind. Try getting 100 percent achievement by tracking activity cards which include boss fights, time trials, and flashback levels. The PS4 version can be easily upgraded to the PS5, so don’t worry about achieving greatness on the older consoles. Everything is transferable.
Returnal is next in line, an upcoming sci-fi adventure game for the PS5. Crashing on a dark planet, chasing a weird signal called “White Shadow”, you’ll have to explore your surroundings to uncover the secrets of an alien world to find answers and get off of that planet. Dashing and quickly maneuvering your character in the environment is key to your survival. Encounter fierce battles due to the different monsters who each have a unique movement system to make your nightmares come true. Death is only the beginning because every death will change the planet. Monsters will spawn in different places and the planet will look differently. Adaptation will be your strength. Use mysterious devices that’ll change your playstyle on the go. This can come from weapons, equipment, and consumables. The game will launch on the 30th of April!
Next, let’s take a deeper look at a ps4 game called “Knockout city”, a team-based co-op game with epic dodge ball battles. Easy to pick-up-and-play but offering a lot of depth for those rascals among us. The first mode is “Face-off” which is a 1v1 mode where the arena is shrinking by the minute. Use your reflexes and abilities to gain the upper hand. Trickshots are also a thing and these shots can hop a ball over a ledge or curve it around the corner. A well-thought-out catch will boost the damage of the ball which will give your opponent a reason to flee. Fake throw balls to confuse them, making them use their dodge abilities a bit too soon and go in for the kill. The next mode is a 3v3 mode which is called “Team KO”, gain dominance over the enemy team by using tactics and teamwork. Special dodge balls will also be available to trample the enemy from afar, like the sniper ball. The sniper ball will lock onto your enemies which will give you a clean shot from the distance. Some maps will also have different mechanics to gain an advantage. For example, there could be tubes to transport your character from side A to side B in a jiffy. The game will come out on May 21st. Sign up for the closed beta!
Next up is a martial action-adventure combat game called Sifu. Hone your skills in hand-to-hand combat or reap destruction with combat weapons like the martial arts stick. Become the true master of martial arts by overcoming each battle and learning from your mistakes. The game has a nice cell-shaded graphical style which will please a lot of fans. Coming in 2021.
Solar Ash, a PS5 game is debuting now on the State of Play presentation. The creative director of Heart Machine gives us a glimpse of this alienated but colorful game. The game is a stylish 3D platformer focused on speed, movement, and fluidity. It is set in a giant black hole that has been consuming everything in its path. You play as Ray, a Voidrunner which seems to be the last effort to save the homeworld of a strange anomaly. Ray can skate on the alien clouds and linge onto different objects with her laser whip that’ll help her traverse the environment much faster than any other being. There will be Grotesk and violent creatures to overcome. Creatures will grow and will become more dangerous to Ray as you traverse this alien world. You’ll need to be quick on your feet and strike precisely to defeat them. The game will be released later this year on the PS4 and PS5.
The upcoming game for the PS5 is Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach where you take on the role of a young boy locked in a mall and hunted by different mysterious creatures. You’ll need to get out by morning or your soul will be forever theirs. The game is coming out in 2021.
Now is the time for Oddworld: Soulstorm. The creative director will take us through some of the features of this upcoming exclusive. You take on the role of Abe which leads a revolutionary group of slaves to escape the evil clutches of Glukkons. It’s a 2.9 3D platformer that allows them to create environments that have a lot more depth and immersion for the player. This immersion is also enhanced by bringing in the use of the haptic feedback of the PS5 console controllers. You will feel Abe’s heartbeat in suspenseful situations. There are over 1000 slaves that need to be saving but Abe can stimulate them to work together to overcome some of Abe’s biggest obstacles. Abe can now also scavenge and loot his environment to craft useful items for himself or others. There will also be the choice of becoming a non-lethal pacifist or an agent of chaos, whatever fits your playstyle. Whatever your choice will be, you will always have your mystic power of possession that will help you to take control over an enemy unit which can help you in numerous ways. The game is coming out on the 6th of April.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits is the next presentation of a former announced PS5 game. The game is a 3D adventure game where you get the ability to conjure up spirits and let them fight for you. Kena searches the way to a sacred mountain Shrine to uncover the secrets of the land. She will encounter different forest creatures and an evil antagonist. Trapped spirits are tangled in the past and Kina must help them to traverse to the spirit world safely. The game looks gorgeous, it’s almost a PIXAR animated story with a touch of Nintendo’s Pikmin. Coming the 24th of August.
Deathloop is up next! The new trailer looks like a James Bond in the making. This stylish assassination game sets up the stage for 2 amazing assassins going up against each other to gain the most assassinations in a row without being killed by the other assassin. At least, that’s what I think it is. This is the latest trailer and I still don’t have a clue about this game. Anyways, it’s a game that looks like a 70th version of Dishonored. No release information yet!
Final Fantasy 7 Remake gets the next episode which is called FFVII Remake Intergrade where you get to play as Yuffie.
