Welcome to our review of Bug Academy, a puzzle game where you are a bug solving puzzles?
A humorous, logical, and arcade game in which we take control of insects, teaching them various activities so far reserved exclusively for people.

The Bug Academy consists of a series of lessons in which we overcome challenges based on logic and the physics system. They have to face various tasks – including delivering parcels, repairing damaged installations, building bridges, extinguishing fires, as well as playing musical instruments, painting, dancing, and even flying into space; all within the bounds of a physics system which, of course, leads to many funny situations.
Bug Academy is a game with some odd controls and a surprisingly funny grasp on gravity. The tutorial is a must follow as it teaches you how to handle the bugs at your disposal. Going from walking them up, so they join your swarm or saying goodbye so you can move on to the next level.
It teaches you how to grab an object, any object really like most of the level is available in itself. Pick it up, fly it around, activate switches, or use it to switch on levers. There are really a lot of fun things to do and this is where we get to the hard part of the game, flying around the place, both natural and not natural really. The little buggers are not hard to control, but not easy either, kind of like they are mimicking actual bug flight.
That is where the difficulty of this game lies, in its inability to precisely and accurately control the bugs rather than let us perfectly control them. This is a great design choice because otherwise, I would assume this game is going to be boring rather than slightly challenging. The big challenge is that destroying everything might not work out for you. The second level, you are to retrieve 10 cows total, but the enclosure is not sturdy so as you capture the cows and retrieve em, you know what is going to happen.
Yep, the need to also make sure they stay in place is present. So while you are now building a place to contain them, you also need to be able to fly over it while carrying a cow. Otherwise, you end up destroying your containment. I ended up recruiting more bugs to achieve this small level. Quite intricate puzzling with the need to still getting your flying action.
Now, that was just the second level, the following levels really shone as well, but I purposely chose to pick this one as an example of how deep this game is. Next levels, you will encounter stories in buildings and so much more. Bug Academy really has more depth to it than you’d expect.
In conclusion, Bug Academy is the best and the worst a game can bring to the table. Far from perfect controls which are most likely on purpose to add to the totality of this game. Fun at times, boring at others. The sheer length of performing certain actions might be the biggest downside to this game. While I did enjoy my gameplay, many other games out there that make me have more fun…
