Looking for a new headset or want to give the perfect headset as a Holiday gift? In this special article, we take a look at the Nacon RIG 300 PRO HN, RIG 500 PRO HC, and 800 PRO HX. Let’s take a look!
Nacon RIG 300 PRO HN
The RIG 300 Pro HN is the cheapest model on this list but that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth considering. This is a wired headset that you can use on your Nintendo Switch or PC. It’s made entirely out of plastic, which means it’s a bit less impressive compared to its bigger brothers but you don’t have to worry about the quality of the design. Although not everyone will be a fan of the use of plastic, it does justify its extremely low selling price. Plastic doesn’t mean uncomfortable and the 300 Pro HN is here to prove that. You can detach and attach the cups to fit your head perfectly and thanks to the soft cushion on top of the headset, it’s a rather comfy headset to wear during your gaming sessions. It’s a simple and clean design but it works just like you would hope. Some downsides of the design are perhaps the fixed microphone which isn’t detachable but since it’s a rather small microphone, it didn’t bother me at all. That being said, it’s important to know this is a wired version with two wires running down from both cups. This results in a strong and sturdy wire that fits the design perfectly. It never gets in the way while gaming and this double wire truly ensures the quality and sturdiness of the cable. It won’t break that easily, so you’re good to use this headset for the next coming months and perhaps even years.
When it comes to the actual sound, this headset manages to surprise me. The audio of both gaming sessions or just random listing to music is pretty solid. The sound is pretty clear and offers an impressive range to be honest. The same can be said about the microphone, I never heard any complaints while I was using this and nowadays, it’s my favorite headset to use during an online meeting. The simple plug-and-play of a wired headset allows you to connect the headset in no time. It also offers a sliding switch to adjust the audio but this isn’t as precise as you would hope. Adjusting the audio works better on the device itself instead of on the headset. A minor setback for an otherwise perfect starter model. If you’re looking for a decent headset at an absurdly low price, this is the one to buy.
Nacon RIG 500 PRO HC
The 500 Pro HC is the bigger brother of the 300 Pro HN and comes at a slightly higher price, still not a premium price but something nicely in between. The first big difference is the used material. The 500 Pro HC isn’t a completely plastic headset, it combines metal elements with plastic, making it look more modern and sturdy. Besides that, it uses the same system to adjust the size, by clicking the earcups in one of the three sizing slots, you can alter the size to fit your head. It doesn’t give you the same kind of precision that other headsets give you but I never felt like it was a bad fit on my head. The 500 Pro HC is surprisingly light and is comfortable to use during longer sessions as well. It’s a pretty comfortable headset that comes with noise-eliminating cups. It’s amazing to hear how much sound gets canceled out while using this headset, even without fancy active noise canceling. The isolation on the cups is just right, enabling you to enjoy your music just the way you like it. It’s not a wireless headset but thanks to its 3,5 mm jack you can use this one on your PC or favorite platform. It’s a headset that delivers quality and flexibility. This also can be found in the detachable microphone. Compared to the 300 Pro HN, you can detach the microphone on this headset, giving you a bit more freedom. The microphone itself is also very flexible , enabling you to find the best position.
When it comes to the actual audio, the 500 Pro HC certainly doesn’t disappoint. Just like Nacon’s other headset, this one has a nice range, although the deeper bass isn’t as deep as you would wish for it’s nothing to really worry about considering its price. The audio certainly delivers and even surprises thanks to the inclusion of Dolby Atmos. This surprisingly generous addition of a Dolby Atmos license is a pretty sweet deal for the gamers who plan to use this on PC or Xbox. Sadly, those are the only two platforms supporting Dolby Atmos at the moment, but if you’re looking for a cheaper way to enjoy your impressive surround audio, the 500 Pro HC is the one you need to buy. If you’re using it on a different platform it still is more than a decent headset, especially considering its price. It’s a bit more professional and offers better audio so this is a safe buy without a doubt!
Nacon 800 PRO HX
This brings us to the Nacon 800 PRO HX, the premium headset. The HX is created to use on an Xbox console, if you’re looking for a PlayStation headset, you’ll need to get the HS version while PC gamers need the HD version, something important to take into consideration when you see these headsets in stores. That being said, if you’re looking for a premium wireless headset for your Xbox, the 800 Pro HX should be on your radar, let me tell you why. When it comes to the look and feel, this isn’t the most modern or sleekest headset on the market but the comfort of wearing it is unparalleled. This is by far the most comfortable headset of this line-up, combining different materials while still keeping it light and comfortable is the key to the design here and it works like a charm. Besides that, the headset also comes with its own docking station so you can recharge it after you use it, not that you’ll need to recharge it that much with a battery life that can easily run up to 24 hours, pretty impressive to say the least! With the addition of the charging station, you’re getting a pretty solid deal with this headset, it’s clear that Nacon wants to deliver a total package and they certainly succeeded.
On the audio side of things, this is without a doubt another level, 800 PRO HX offers the widest range and deepest basses, really elevating your gaming sessions with stellar audio. It also comes packed with Dolby Atmos so you’re able to enjoy the best surround audio on your Xbox. The headset is easy to use and your voice will sound as clear as it should during online sessions, this headset certainly has it all and although it comes at a higher price, it’s worth every penny. The way you control your audio is unparalleled and the headset gives you a tremendous amount of settings to play around with, after a couple of minutes, I’m sure everyone will find the perfect settings for their favorite game. That being said, the headset uses a separate dongle to connect but you can also integrate it into the charging station, which gives you a cleaner and more professional look and feel. It comes with all the features you would expect to see in a premium model without ever reaching that full premium selling point. It’s clear that this one is the best of the line-up, so if you’re looking for a headset that comes close to some of the best on the market without matching those insane premium prices, this is the one you simply need to buy.
