One of the perks of having children is that you can play games like Peppa Pig, Paw Patrol, and My Fantastic Ranch without getting those weird, judging looks. Look, I don’t judge people for what they play. I love certain games and genres that other people frown upon. Still, when it happens, I can always wave and smile – and point at my daughters. Time to dive in with unicorns and dragons.
My Fantastic Ranch
Set in an enchanting world populated with dragons and unicorns, My Fantastic Ranch is a management game for the whole family in which you build and expand the ranch of your dreams and take care of magical animals. You will also need to host the many students who come to take incredible riding lessons and train the best duos to impress the Prince and Princess of the kingdom. Sounds easy enough, right? Well, it’s pretty challenging at times!
Modes
My Fantastic Ranch comes with two modes, I played both with my daughters, and I’ll give you my two cents on which to play with the little ones. In Normal mode, you complete a variety of objectives to earn reputation and gems to expand your ranch and upgrade buildings. Attract more students to your ranch, win tournaments, and impress the Prince and Princess to improve your ranch and become the most famous in the whole kingdom. For those who played Harvest Moon or Story of Seasons, these tasks will be very natural and will probably feel like a walk in the park.
Oke, imagine this one; you are playing the normal mode I just mentioned with your three-year-old (in English), and the game throws all these challenges at you. She only wants to play with the pretty unicorn and dragon. So what do you do? Plow through for the review of course; but since the game offers two modes, I started a new game in Dreamer mode, which is very well catered to the younger audience. In Dreamer mode you get to build your ranch in complete freedom, without any space or resource restrictions. It’s Rosebud all over again!
Gameplay & Art
So, gameplay-wise it’s all about building the ranch and upgrading buildings. Luckily it’s not about cows and sheep this time. You get to raise eight different types of unicorns and dragons can be adopted at your ranch. From fire dragons and celestial unicorns to water dragons and ethereal unicorns, each type has a distinct look and particular nature. It’s one of those neat features that add a little flair to the standard ‘build and manage your ranch’ game. To make it even more targeted at a family fun time, the main elements of training are divided into five types of lessons for students at your ranch: dressage, target practice, circus, aerobatics, and festival practice!
Add these elements to the easy-to-learn and violence-free gameplay, and you get a game that is an ideal introduction to management games for the whole family. Learn to manage resources and organize your ranch to upgrade it to its full potential. Set in a colorful setting with glitters and sparkles, it’s time to fold your own adventure.
Conclusion
My Fantastic Ranch is much more than just another management simulation game targeted at kids. It’s pretty well designed for both kids and adults since I had a lot of fun with the normal mode, and my daughter had a lot of fun with the dreamer mode. My Fantastic Ranch holds enough content for both parties and challenges you to try your best when you’re competing for the gold medal. upgrade it to its full potential. Another pro about My Fantastic Ranch is that the game can be picked up for just a few minutes or for longer sessions by those who want to perfect their ranch. So, if you’re looking for something to pick up for your kids, I recommend this one!
