It’s been too long since we had a proper Nintendo Direct filled with new and unannounced games. Although a lot of gamers were hoping today was the day this was going to change, Nintendo just revealed their first Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase, airing in a couple of hours. So what can we expect from this showcase?
Lower your expectations
Well, first things first, this isn’t the big Nintendo Direct everybody was hoping for. You won’t hear about Metroid Prime 4 or The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 here. The announcement clearly states that this Direct Mini will focus on a small group of already announced Nintendo Switch games, created by Nintendo’s development and publishing partners, as you can read in the announcement Tweet here:
On top of that comes the fact that the presentation will be around 10 minutes, which is rather short compared to the main Nintendo Directs. It’s clear Nintendo is ready to share something but this isn’t the big one just yet, maybe we’ll get our E3-esque Nintendo Direct next month? So what to expect from this one? Let’s take a look.
No More Heroes 3
One game that I’m pretty certain of making a reappearance is No More Heroes 3. Suda 51 is constantly teasing his new project and we already saw the game running in action in the background. This means the game is in a playable state and the actual release might be a lot closer than you would think. I think it’s pretty sure to bet this one will definitely make a return and might even be the main portion of this Direct Mini.
Shin Megami Tensei V
The next one is a bit more unlikely but has been missing in action for over two years. This game got revealed years ago with the initial trailer of the iconic game coming to the West. Since then, we haven’t heard a word from it. It’s a major franchise and fans all over the world are getting desperate to hear more about it. Does it still exist? Will it still be released on Nintendo Switch? Maybe today is the day we’ll finally learn more about it.
DOOM Eternal
When it comes to impressive partner games, DOOM Eternal immediately pops up in my head. We’ve learned the game is well underway and will possibly release sooner than we might think. The developers already confirmed they were ready to share an update soon, so what better stage to reveal an anticipated trailer than on the Nintendo Direct stage? Pretty sure we’ll see some brutal demon action today!
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered
Looking at other important third party games, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered is certainly a contender of making a return. We saw some updates of the games during the recent weeks but I’m guessing it’s time for a full update for its release in the West.
More?
These are just a couple of games I expect to make a return during today’s short Nintendo Direct Mini, but of course, there are more games currently in development that might make a return. Perhaps even Persona 5 Scramble or the New Pokémon Snap game? We’ll get our answers in just a couple of hours!
