Indie Corner: Jet Kave Adventure

Welcome to our review of Jet Kave Adventure, a new 2.5D platforming game that is loads of fun!

Jetpack through the prehistoric world in a “Stone fiction” adventure platformer!
Jet Kave Adventure brings everything you love about 2.5D platformers. Enjoy the skill-based action, challenging boss fights, clever secrets and thrilling set-pieces in a game where the Stone Age and science fiction collide.

Meet Kave, the jet-powered caveman. A has-been chief banished by his own tribe, he stumbles upon… a jetpack! The device turns him into the only prehistoric man who stands a chance against “the alien invader” – a rather unlikable guy from the sky who’ll readily kick off a disastrous volcanic eruption just so he can repair his spaceship. So begins Kave’s quest to save the whole island and prove his worth to the tribe.

Who needs double jumps when you’ve got a jetpack?! This piece of extraterrestrial tech is a real game-changer – both for Kave and the player. Master jet-fueled platforming and fly over pitfalls, smash through walls, knock out enemies, and manipulate objects as you halt the alien threat once and for all.

Jet Kave Adventure will be catching you off guard straight from the start. For a smaller title, it will bring so much fun to the table and before you know it, you are caught in its prehistoric web and you will be losing sleep just to keep playing!

Based in a prehistoric setting, you are faced with a platformer where you get some variety in gameplay. First, there is your typical left to right and top to bottom platforming. You are constantly collecting food to keep your hearts up after getting hit and it does bring an extra dimension to the game. Aside from that, there are a little over 30 collectible trophies scattered around the world.

Once you pass the initial working tutorial, you get the futuristic backpack and suddenly, your caveman can fly around as long as the jetpack has energy. Grab monetary items along the way and upgrade a variety of skills, including the health, jetpack, … options. I actually enjoyed it all, from jumping on ledges to using poles to jump further down the line, Jet Kave Adventure provides a ton of varied fun.

At one point, you are even using a kite to fly around the place and quite frankly, as refreshing as this was, it was sadly also the one side I did not fully enjoy. I think the mechanic did not work as fluidly as the rest of the game but I guess it is the charm of the game. At least one part is harder than the other?

Jet Kave Adventure was fun to play and I must admit I did not expect it to be this well-balanced and just all-out great. I did check out the preview video and thought this might be another pea in the pod, but the game proved me wrong. I loved playing it and the collecting part is actually an added bonus to this game as you will try to get that one “coin” on the top of the ledge just because it can upgrade something in the end. That is why Jet Kave Adventure is so great, it just drags you into the game and its lore.

Heck, even the predictable boss fights and yes, they are about as predictable as can be, they do not even influence the experience in a negative way. Fun is guaranteed and aside from the kite flying, I just loved this game.

In conclusion, Jet Kave Adventure caught me by surprise as I did not expect it to be this much fun. I am glad I got to try it and now I can’t get enough of it, highly recommended!
