Steampunk Tower 2 is quite literally a tower defense game. You have a secret base in the south of Spain. With the help of your team, you have to beat the cultists who are trying to take over the world. You will progress on the map to Portugal and later the rest of Europe. On the map, there are few different kinds of missions. However, the main missions have you defend important places from the cultists. In order to do this, your team will drop a heavy tower from an airship, Called the Aurora.
The Tower has the shape of a big sword and the blade of the sword gets buried in the ground as the foundation while the top part sticks out. On this part, you have multiple floors. You can get more by upgrading your tower. On each floor, there is a spot on each side for a weapon. During the levels, you will get attacked from both sides of the tower and it is your job to defend and kill all threats. The enemies can consist of regular ground soldiers to steampunk vehicles that look like an armadillo. They also have air troops. These can be flying bombs or hot air balloons and a bunch of others.
Sometimes you get some other kind of special missions, for example there are missions in which you have to survive a continuous wave for a certain amount of time instead of a set number of waves which you have to fight through. If you have some time between your waves, you can replace your weapons on the tower. For instance, when you get attacked by air on the left, then your mortar gun isn’t doing much, then you can proceed to replace the mortar to the other side of the tower to be more useful. You can also seat your weapons in the middle of the tower. From this position, they cannot do anything, but they will reload much faster and this might give you the edge you need.
After each level you earn a bunch of experience and get 2 kinds of currency. Green Crystals to upgrade your buildings and weapons and regular currency with which you can purchase access to new locations or invest in upgrades as well. At your secret base you have a number of buildings to start with. A factory in which you build, repair and upgrade your tower. A workshop in which you buy and upgrade your weapons. Also, some housing which earns you some money. These can be upgraded to earn more. There are also some empty slots of land on which you will be able to build later.
You Can also build a train station; this train station is used in special spy missions. These missions are not played by the player but by an NPC, you send out an agent and he will resolve the mission and bring back the loot. This is a very good way to get the much-needed resources to upgrade your Steampunk Tower!
It’s a fun game for a while but the game gets very repetitive, very fast. Even in the levels in which you have a different objective you basically do the same. However, the boss fights do spice up the experience. But after a few boss fights this too gets more of the same. Steampunk Tower 2 is a very cool game and the artwork is beautiful. However, the objective of the levels gets old fast and this made me not want to finish the game completely. Therefore I cannot give this game a very high score even though it is an awesome concept.
