Welcome to our review of the game that was once known as Project Mekuru but now sports the name of “Flip Wars”.
I must admit, when they originally showcased this game, I was thinking it would be a cheap short game to play. Sure, it looked decently fun, but seriously, jumping on panels to make them switch colors?

Fast forward to the Post E3-event I was blessed to join, where we were given the chance to play this one, immediately headed into a 4 player match up, Lander and myself against 2 of the promo team. This game was stunning, it caught me by surprise and before I knew it, I was immersed in this crazy multi-player delight of a game. On the way home, I actually called it one of the better games we played that day.

Fast forward to today, actually being able to play it again, this time the full version, so did it live up to my first impression or my second one?
Let me first explain that at the event, we just tried 1 side of the game, 4 players against each other and now, I could freely choose any setting I wanted! Whether it is 1 against 3 others or just play with my wife, who pretty much crushed me on her first attempt, this game has quite a few settings, to my big surprise.

My one and only favorite is not the default setting of switching the colors on the panels, but it is the one where you need to flip your enemies! Be it with a set amount of lives or all the way to a preset timer and just grab as many flips as possible, this game can be really cruel, but I love it. It is more than just randomly jumping around!

The main idea is to really think about what you are doing, basing your strategy on everything around you. Throughout a level, you can find a power-up which can be very helpful! I love being able to move a lot faster or get diagonal attacks instead of the basic Top, right, bottom, left attacks.
Another aspect when it comes to strategy, you run faster on your own colors, so you have an interest in flipping the panels into your own color as much as possible, nothing beats a quick sneak up on someone because you can quickly get behind him thanks to your own panels.

And when you do not find any friends nearby, you can always head to the internet battle where the system randomly pairs you up with other players, so you basically always have a great game ahead of you when you feel like playing.

In conclusion, I guess it is clear that my second impression was the right one, this game rocks and is possibly the best party game you can have. Even without any real experience, this game is a real blast and I am certain you will enjoy this more than you thought!
