News: New entities in Master of Orion’s early access!

Master of Orion’s early access is introducing new lifeforms: Darloks and Silicoids. Alongside these new entities, “Independent Planets” is being revealed and there’s a new victory condition known as “Economics”. To top this all of, the game is now playable on Linux and Steam OS.

Today will be the first day that all of the races in Master of Orion are playable, except for the Terran which is only available by purchasing the Collector’s Edition. Let’s take a look at the new species…

Darloks are very experienced when it comes to espionage, nobody in the whole universe trust them. These freakishly creatures help you with collecting information, destroying industries and stealing technology while they’re creating pure chaos by poisoning the enemy’s food. Just don’t forget, every other race has the key to this shadow realm.

The Silicoids are giant rock things that aren’t clever but they’re masters when it comes to engineering. They’re trained to conquer galactic colonies with their formidable force. They’re with many, even when they aren’t the fastest growing creatures alive. Their wealthy planet contains rare minerals that can be used to give a financial boost.

The game offers a new option to win the game and it’s all about economics, even better known as the “Interstellar Stock Exchange”. This winning condition can be achieved, if you play your cards right and manipulate the whole section. Think about a financial sabotage, so the population of a certain planet declines to work and go for a strike. Result: an enemy force won’t be able to build certain things. This is of course more of a direct way to turn up the pressure but it can also be used in a more in-direct way. Analyze the financial stock, notice progressive changes and buy shares to boost your own financial situation.

Independent planets is also a new feature that’s been added to the game. These planets are independent and have no intention to become greater and more powerful than the state they’re in but they shouldn’t be left in the dark corners of the galaxy. Execute missions, earn credits and donate those credits to get them on your side. These independent planets are also a part of the “Galactic Council”, so their vote can be crucial to a “Diplomatic” victory.

Don’t forget, the game’s still in Early Access, which is a good thing. The NGD studio developers are open to feedback to make their product even better. For example: “Tactical Battles” have been made more challenging, the AI has been reinforced and difficulty settings have been added, thanks to all the community’s feedback.
