Review: Transformers: Earthspark – Expedition

Welcome to our review of Transformers: Earthspark – Expedition, a game that seemingly relies on its Transformers franchise to convince players to buy it.

Battle and explore as Bumblebee in an adventure to stop his nemesis, Mandroid, from becoming the ultimate evil cyborg!
Bumblebee is facing his greatest mission – reclaim the ancient Cybertronian technology scattered across the globe before Mandroid and his henchbots can use them to destroy Earth’s cities. With Optimus Prime’s guidance and you at the controls, Bumblebee will grow strong enough to take on an army of robotic enemies in bare-metal combat, find the lost technology, and unlock powerful new attack combos and abilities along the way!

There’s a wide world of Transformers action to discover. Gear up for boss battles with some of the series’ greatest villains, hunt down secrets, and build your relics collection as you explore three expansive locations. With gameplay modes designed for new and experienced players, there’s a challenge for every Transformers generation.

Honestly, Transformers: Earthspark – Expedition is not the best game out there on Nintendo Switch. On the big screen, it kind of looks bad, though handheld mode does do it more justice, the entire game is just seemingly empty when it comes to levels and well, it shows its face as being a low-effort game to me.

Even in battles, you got a few attacks and a shooter and that is about it. The controls are easy though at the same time, it is hard to control Bumblebee. The jumping is awkward at best and well, it is seriously lacking in polish in more than just that. It has been a very long time since I had to say this, but this is the curse of franchise-driven games coming back to haunt us players.

Transformers: Earthspark – Expedition is outright a bad game. It is not that fun to play, you get bored of the very monotonous fighting sequences and before you know it, you have unlocked travel points, and beaten many enemies and you just wonder, why the heck am I playing this game?

Well, for me obviously, it is all about the actual review, I love to experience new games even though some of them might bomb and provide me with clunky controls, and horrible driving skills, … Like really, when you drive Bumblebee into a tight spot, it is almost the ultimate cringe how he should try to escape from this predicament. Just so many things are preventing me from truly enjoying the game. It just is not fun.

In conclusion, Transformers: Earthspark – Expedition relies on its franchise and fame to get you to buy a copy, but honestly, it is not great and with all the big-time titles out there, this one deserves to be bottom of the list.
