Summary: Ubisoft Forward 2021

The Ubisoft Forward E3 2021 presentation is finally here including tons of thrilling reveals! Read all about it in our special summary.

This year’s show kicked off with a deeper look at Rainbow Six Extraction. The game is set in a world that got destroyed by an asteroid, triggering nightmare events. Think Venom but deadlier and more contagious. The virus is taking over certain people, it’s your job to track them down and eliminate them once and for all. The reveal showcased the importance of working together as one team while taking down the hordes of deadly monsters. The most dangerous creatures are called ‘Apex’ and will certain ask a lot of your skills in order to take it down. The game is releasing on September 16th.

After the cinematic trailer, we got some more details during a gameplay walkthrough. It’s a 1 to 3 player co-op experience featuring some of your favorite Rainbow Six Operators, including some of their infamous gadgets. On top of that, the Operators come with extra gear and weapons to tackle the alien monsters. In order to ‘unlock’ certain operators, you’ll need to get them out of the containment zone, but be careful, if you die there, you’ll lose all your upgrades, making it a lot harder to survive the next round. You won’t fight each other in this new Rainbow Six entry, instead, you’ll need to closely work together in order to become victorious. As showcased in the trailer, there are different species and mutations you’ll have to face.

Important to know is that the game will support cross-play too. After the explanation, it was time to see the game in action with some actual gameplay footage. Be sure to take a look at this amazing combination of that typical Rainbow Six gameplay with aliens:

Next up, an update of Rocksmith called Rocksmith+ enabling you to connect with your phone of cable, a vast music library and a better locator for the notes you’re hitting. You’ll also have a direct feedback to what your doing as well as some helpful videos from the team and community. It really takes learning how to pay the guitar to the next level and looks pretty impressive. As the name already gave away, Rocksmith+ is a subscription based service that will release this year. One of the biggest selling points is the ability to use your phone as microphone so acoustic players can practice wherever they want. The closed beta is coming right after the show.

Moving on to Riders Republic, the big surprise of the 2020 show. We saw a new trailer where it seems like the team really went all out to make this title as fun as possible. It’s extremely colorful, sunny, and filled with thrilling extreme sports. The game supports a lot of team-based multiplayer modes where you’ll need to link your scores together in order to be the best. The sports look extremely fun and thrilling, especially in first person perspective. Next to that, you’ll also be able to showcase your skills in the playground city. One thing’s for sure, this game comes packed with variation in environments, characters, and sports. It’s looking like a blast and the scale is rather unseen in its genre. The game also includes mass racers with up to 64 players all racing for the crown. Like Fall Guys, but a bit more realistic… Releasing September 2nd.

Next, some Rainbox Six Siege attention, showcasing why the game is still as strong as ever and worth starting in 2021. The show included some quality-of-life improvements of the game. On June 30, the game is coming to Luna and Stadia with crossplay. In early 2022, consoles will also be able to enjoy crossplay. To wrap-up, we saw an animated trailer of Thunderbird, the new Siege Operator.

Moving over to a showcase reel of some updates coming to already live Ubisoft games including For Honor, Brawlhalla, and Trackmania.

And there’s Just Dance 2022 with a very special guest. Todrick Hall is joining the movement including his hit song with an exclusive version of it. If you’re interested, you can even make it into the new upcoming music video for this new version. Besides that, the game comes with 40 new songs, releasing November 4th.

Moving over to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla focussing on the upcoming expansion. It looks like Eivor still has a long journey ahead. The team is working hard to track and solve issues based on community feedback. The second big expansion is called The Siege of Paris, which was the biggest battle in Viking history. This expansion will include black box infiltration missions, new weapons, skills, gear, and of course, new enemies. The expansion is releasing this Summer. On top of that, the Discovery Tour is making a return too, enabling you to live the life of normal people during the Viking Age. For the first time in the franchise, Ubisoft will continue supporting the game during its second year too, teasing an Odin-related expansion.

Next up, some attention for the TV shows under the Ubisoft banner. Werewolves Within is a new movie releasing pretty soon.

Time for Far Cry 6 with a new in-game introduction. The trailer sets the atmosphere, showcasing the terror of the game’s newest antagonist. It’s that classic Far Cry atmosphere with some extra spices and twists. It’s looking rather impressive and I can’t wait to get my hands on this one. After the new trailer, we jumped into the viewing point of one of the developers. The team revealed some of the post-launch content. It is time to see the other side, go further into the rabbit hole. What we saw next was a celebration of all iconic Far Cry villains brought together in a strange looking universe. This mode lets you control these villains all while diving deeper in their sick minds. It’s included in the Season Pass.

Now it’s time for the official reveal of Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. This was revealed by the official Nintendo website a bit too early today but the screenshots certainly didn’t do the reveal trailer any justice. Our heroes venture into space where they’ll have to defeat a new dangerous creature. Oh… And Rabbid Rosalina looks incredibly cute.

It’s a full sequel where you’ll need to save an entire galaxy with your team of heroes, filled with a couple of surprise guests. The villain you’ll need to face is called Cursa, something unlike anything you have faced before. To help them out, you can count on the Sparks, a cute mix of a Luma and Rabbid. It’s not just a new story with new heroes, the project has big ambitious, pushing the boundaries of tactical games, all while remaining easy to learn for new players. To top off the reveal, we also saw some rather impressive pre-alpha gameplay:

The show isn’t done yet, time to move over to Yves Guillemot, the big CEO. He took some time to compliment the entire team for its hard work during these strange times. He also like to talk about another impressive new partnership. We finally saw the gorgeous world Ubisoft is creating for their Avatar game called Avatar Frontiers of Pandora, releasing in 2022.
