Into The Dead 2

Welcome to our review of Into The Dead 2, how far will you go to survive? Out now on Nintendo Switch!

Journey through the zombie apocalypse in a race to save your family. Arm yourself with an arsenal of powerful weapons and do whatever it takes to survive. Maim, mow down, and massacre the Dead – anything to keep moving! In a world where no one is safe, how far will you go to make it out alive?

Into The Dead 2 is a pretty basic game that mostly resembles the classic arcade games. You are running through the storyline and avoiding the zombies. Run left, Run right and shoot the zombies whenever you feel like they will run you over. Use that knife only in emergencies!

It sounds very easy but this game is actually pretty intense. In the first few levels, the zombies are pretty tame. Most will go down with a single bullet, though it is important to note here that you do not have endless ammo. Even when you pick up a new weapon, that has no unlimited ammo, just basically till it overheats or runs out. I love sitting down at the turret and just mow down the darn zombies in my way.

Into the Dead 2 is rather low on the jump scares, though when you do not notice the enemy at hand, you are in for a surprise when it jumps you. I must admit this game caught me off guard as it is way better than I originally thought it’d be, I just did not expect it to be this fun! Running away scared because you are out of ammo or using your shotgun to take out a pack of zombies in a single shot, way more fun than I anticipated.

Also important to know is that you have a lot of upgrade options. I had a dog companion that I let run loose, he often took down a few zombies here and there. I upgraded my guns, I upgraded my shotguns, I had armour piercing bullets and so much more. While I do not condone any use of guns in real life, this kind of game did get my blood pumping in the right way.

And while it was not graphically impressive, running arcade style games rarely are, you do not mind much because of everything going on around you. A barnyard nearby, fences you need to jump, … There is always something nearby to look out for.

In conclusion, Into the Dead 2 is possibly the game you least expected to be really fun. The dark atmosphere around the levels, the story that is weaving the levels together and the overal eeriness is all right there. Maybe that price point is on the higher side for a casual game, but then again, this is not a game you will just play casually. It is way too fun for that!
