Welcome to our Summary of the Devolver Digital E3 2019 Press Conference. Devolver Digital held their first Direct/Press conference at E3 and it had some great content! Short opinion in the end of the article.
The Direct starts off with a rather awkward and violent 5 minute skit with remarks like super tit awesome. After which we finally head into the first trailer!
A very colorful game with a counting gimmick that says how many fall guys are remaining is shown first, I loved the music, Fall Guys, Ultimate Knockout is coming to PS4 and PC in Early 2020.
More awkward talking to link us to the next title, Devolver Bootleg.
This is a steam game called Devolver Bootleg and features 8 games, this seems to be a collection of “Bootleg” games like Catsylvania, Hotline Milwaukee, Enter the dungeon, Luftrousers and many more!
Next up is even more awkward linking between reveals, this time with a Aliens style skit, bloody and awkward like all the others!
A reverse Horror Experience called Carrion is shown next, this seems to be a platformer about killing humans? Out in 2020 on PC and console!
Next up is a rather unusual reveal, an actual Arcade cabinet based upon Enter the Gungeon, House of the Gundead, out in 2020. The price mentioned on the website is 4999 as SRP. This game appears to be a shooter and looks quite cool.
More The Messenger DLC is coming! A free DLC named Picnic Panic is coming July 11th!
My friend Pedro got an official date of June 20th! All Aboard the hype train! Out on Switch and PC that day.
We end the direct with more awkward bits and pieces, which seemed to have been the case throughout the entire Devolver Direct. Take out the awkwardness of their acting and quite honestly stupid skits and we are left off with a very obvious Nintendo Direct clone, even the same style of date announcements and everything.
Once I looked past all that, I was left with several titles I wanted to play. Fall Guys had such fun music and vibe to it, that I can only say this will be a day 1 purchase. It just felt like a finished product already when that trailer hit.
Devolver Bootleg is another one that peaked my interests, despite not owning a gaming pc, this is a title that I would love to play. Same as Carrion, that game screams “play me” to me. I must say as unimpressed as I was with the presentation, the more impressed I was with the titles shown. They may not be AAA productions, but not one of them seemed “dull” and the term I would coin to describe them is none other than “interesting”….
We finished with Messenger DLC, which I look forward to, an actual release date for My friend Pedro as well, both items highly interested in.
Last but not least, that massively priced arcade cabinet. As cool as it it, that price is out of my personal league, though I would love to own one down the line 🙂
In conclusion, take away all the awkwardness of the skits in between and you are left with some damn impressive titles. No big hitters though this is not needed for Devolver Digital, who shine in the triple Indie region!
I look forward for more announcements from them but hopefully without all the gore and awkwardness!
