Honestly, MX vs ATV Legends is a game that comes off really promising, tons of tutorials and accessibility options to pimp out your rides and that is actually where the game stutters the most. Rigid feeling maneuvrability and just weird camera positions at times really mess up what could have been a great entry in this series, but no, the harsh truth is that I found the game to be boring.

Unless you really spend your time to upgrade your rides to really high levels, you are stuck with this lack of proper driving. I used to drive a vespa and while it obviously does not compare to one of these beauties, it did teach me the subtleties of how to drive. Changing my balance for certain curbs, … I got real life basic skills. But this is also where the game borks out on you, sadly the basic rides are actually really like they came right out an arcade version and no, they are not good in my humble opinion.

Right in the tutorial, when you need to be taught how to drive, some instructions are just plain rubbish. Unreliable and after a few retries, suddenly I was passing the test. No fudging clue what I had done, I just passed. On to the next time this happened and then the next… I just wish designers of tutorials would really spend some time watching newbies, not advanced gamers, but real newbies take a shot at their work. They will see how much this games’ tutorial will fail from the get go.

Another thing that was weird for me, I had sponsors that seemingly did nothing for me, so awkward and weird, I dont know if the game was just making fun of me or not. I clearly remember not disliking the previous entry, but MX vs ATV Legends clearly went awry for me.

In conclusion, sorry to the developers but it felt like I was playing a beta most of the time…
