Review: Pyramid Quest

Welcome to our review of an ode to the classics – I’m talking about Pyramid Quest, an exploration and treasure-hunting game in which you collect diamonds and coins. Sounds fun? Well, let’s dive in.

Pyramid Quest

Pyramid Quest feels a lot like games in Spelunker and other ‘jump and collects’ games. Most of the time, these games are fun for a bit and don’t offer that much of a challenge. Pyramid Quest is one of those games, even though I was entertained quite a bit. The Egyptian theme, combined with traps, obstacles, and enemies from the old days, makes the quest very dangerous and challenging. Nevertheless, after a few levels, the whole concept feels repetitive.

Mobile repetitiveness

Usually, I would talk a bit about the game’s story, but there isn’t that much of a story to go about. So instead, the game focuses on the nameless explorer who tackles traps and collects coins, artifacts, and other stuff to fight the snakes and other enemies. Pyramid Quest looks fine – it offers 3D graphics packed in an excellent graphics style fitted into significant 2.5D levels, just like the old games. But it offers nothing new.

Conclusion

I think the best conclusion is that if you’re looking for a family-friendly platformer, you could look into Pyramid Quest. It’s much more forgiving than games like Spelunky or La Mulana, which offer the same themes. Granted, the fall damage can be a bit annoying, but the rest is just a mediocre game that provides fun and gets nothing else to go about than the fun it offers. I wish I could say more, but Pyramid Quest is just your run of the mill 50 levels to complete game that gives you everything you expect from a game I could also download on my phone to play while waiting for the bus.
