Welcome to our review of Sokobunny, a sokoban clone with more issues than it has levels….
Lost in the mountains, the working village continues to work for the benefit of the universe. Orders for cargo continue to arrive and local bunnies no longer cope with the tasks.
They sent you to the cargo village to help organize all the goods in their place at the warehouse, but you will have to work hard for this.
You can choose between 3 levels of difficulty of the warehouse, relax with the locals, swim, jump and of course kick.
Take a friend with you to cooperative mode to solve warehouse maze puzzles faster. You only have your powerful paws for cargo kicks and you can do it! In addition to solving the main problem in the labyrinths of the warehouse, you can kick the locals, relax in hammocks, swim, play football and get perks in a local cafe. And you can ride and have fun in cars.
Collect kicks to buy a new car to have fun in it!
Quite possibly the only positive thing about this game is that it is a cheap knock off of the original Sokoban games. But that is really all about there is. Having owned several sokoban games in the past, I knew what I was getting myself into in terms of puzzles.
For those unfamiliar with the genre, you basically push boxes around to get all the marked spots to be covered by those said boxes. It sounds easy but they can get quite intense and it is more a matter of how well developed your spatial thinking is rather than getting lucky and managing to solve a level out of the blue.
Sokobunny is slow to move the dumb bunny around and it is exactly that that you’d expect to be the biggest flaw in a game like this, but alas, it is just one of many. The camera angles are not the best, neother is there any full screen or top down mode.
Also this game is slooooooow, the bunny does its job but it does it rather sluggishly on top of the speed issue. At times I just think this game was a quick money grab rather than an actual attempt to make a proper game. I know I am sounding harsh, but sigh, this game is really something else.
The only positive about this game are the upper echelon of levels, the ones that are really hard, but once again the mechanics make those levels last ages. I think I even went over 300 moves in 1 level.
In conclusion, only buy this when you are looking for a cheap sokoban clone, the game stinks for the most part…
