Welcome to our hands-on with the latest Crossfire X beta, coming to Xbox as one of the most popular FPS games!
CROSSFIRE is an authentic military-themed FPS where two rival factions, Global Risk and Black List, with opposing world view engage in armed conflict around the world. Global Risk is an international private military organization that strives to fight for their own justice by helping the weak and refusing jobs that go against their beliefs. Black List is a terrorist organization that’s willing to terrorize anything in sight. The only thing that matters to them is money. If the money’s right then nothing is impossible for them.
Original Game Trailer:
When people think about naming the most popular shooters, they will pretty much always name the same household names, Call of Duty, Halo, Gears, Fortnite, Warzone, …. But who here really played Crossfire before? And yes, it has a massive userbase at easily 8 million concurrent players at times. This game is massive in Asia and might go under the radar for some of us.
I will admit I had not played the game, but I knew of its existence, not just due to my involvement with GamingBoulevard, but because I have friends all over the world and I have been in China and Japan a few times in the past. My ex-wife’s cousin actually played this game and it was thanks to him that I knew this game. Excelling in providing stable gameplay regardless of the graphics, Crossfire is available for most underpowered computers as well.
I was excited to see the game coming to Xbox and getting access to the beta made me all giddy on the inside. Three maps were available during the gameplay and well, be prepared for some serious action as this game is about as cutthroat as can be. I died 27 times in my first game, despite the victory by our team, it did feel a little sour.
Crossfire X Gameplay Trailer:
What really grabbed my attention was that some enemies were really seriously top-notch already and I got creamed a few times without even noticing where they came from or how I even got hit. It may have been my lack of knowing the map of the places, but those respawn made up for everything. You respawn realllllllllly quickly and are never really out of the action. It was amazing.
I had a lot of fun playing the beta and really look forward to more playtime in the future. I do hope the final version has some sort of tutorial because I actually killed an enemy by throwing a grenade, but I had no idea I just did that.
Now, the elephant in the room, will this version on Xbox be the door to the western market that is reigned supreme by the Fortnites, CoDs, Warzones, …. of this world? I think it may be a very strong contender due to the way it reacts in-game. Those that know me, they know I only play this genre for review purposes but I do dabble in Fortnite a little, so I am not completely useless in games like these.
I did very much get the full adrenalin rush from my first game already and again, instant respawns are what really got my blood pumping. Add in a decent tutorial so I know what I am doing instead of trying to figure it out while I get taken down from behind…
I understand and can clearly see how this game is so successful and I look forward to the full version.
