E3 2019 Predictions: Xbox

It’s really all about to happen, E3 2019 is just a couple of days away so it’s time to predict what the big players might reveal. Today, we focus on Xbox.

Timmy:

Xbox is possibly the most special of all the E3 presentations. In the past years, they have slowly but surely been acquiring more and more studios and I think this is the year we will see what they are working on. Games that will be releasing on both the Xbox One and the new console!

Yes, I am making the bold prediction that they will show off the new console properly. They have a full 2-hour block in the line ups of presentations and unless you really got some incredible line-up, this is a new console time slot. The console will have full backward compatibility and will support the current generation controllers. Though a brand new controller, loosely based upon the Elite controller, will become the standard.

As an oddball prediction here, I think the new console will have a modular design for the extra storage in the form of a prefixed opening in the back to allow easy plug and play for additional SSD storage.

Gamewise, Microsoft will be announcing more Xbox exclusives/world premieres than ever before and they may be the one going neck to neck with Nintendo this year, last year, Microsoft won but this year, I kind of predict Nintendo to grab it!

Nick:

Project Scarlet has to be unveiled during this E3. With no competition from Sony the spotlight is full on for the “Xbox Two”.

What better way to show you new powerhouse than with Halo Infinite gameplay.

Xcloud will probably be featured extensively. Xbox’s own game stream service in combination with a new no-disk-drive Xbox comes to mind.

It might be a bit stretching it but Gears of War 5 and a new Forza title are among the possibility exclusives announced.

Since Microsoft acquired Obsidian, I’m hoping for some new info about The Outer Worlds a.k.a. the good fallout 4 spinoff…

Nick de Reiger:

Never have been much of an Xbox guy. The only reason I bought Xbox games, was to play Fable II and the remake of Conker, but hey, the Xbox lineup has been way worse – so surprise me Microsoft! Maybe some more cool collaborations between Nintendo and you guys?

Lander:

I’m expecting a lot from Xbox during this year’s E3. It’s perhaps even the conference I’m looking forward to most due to the fact that the company has a lot of interesting news to share. I’m pretty sure they start with a stellar line-up of new Xbox exclusive games developed by the Xbox Studios teams. Gears of War 5, Halo: Infinite, a new Forza, and Ori and the Blind Forest will be featured showcasing new gameplay and details. I also think the company has a couple of great surprises for us too. Footage of the Battletoads game, maybe a new Fable, and if we’re lucky the Banjo-Kazooie game we’ve all been waiting for is finally revealed.

Will it stop there? No, Xbox already confirmed they’ll be showcasing a total of fourteen first-party games so there’s still plenty of room for a couple of more surprises. Besides first-party games, I’m sure plenty of third-party games will get some spotlight during the conference too. Two of the biggest upcoming games Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Cyberpunk 2077 will most-likely steal some of the attention.

With a line-up like this, Xbox can easily win the trophy for the best conference of E3 but I think it’s only the beginning of the madness. I’m predicting a full reveal of the next generation Xbox. This system will be the most powerful console we’ve ever seen, combining the speed of SSD with amazing graphics and a stellar line-up. Xbox will also go big on the Games as a service program by revealing Project Xcloud and some new games to demonstrate the power of the cloud. My prediction is that we’ll be able to play on the new Xbox by the end of this year or the early start of 2020, giving the company an advantage of months over the PlayStation 5.

To conclude, I also think Xbox will expand their partnership with Nintendo by porting more games to the Nintendo Switch. I think we can be pretty certain that Ori and the Blind Forest Switch Edition is something we’ll see and if we’re lucky enough, we might even see Xbox GamePass on Switch. This little bomb will probably be dropped after the reveal of the new console so that everybody will be talking about the Xbox brand for days. The company has potential gold in their hands and I think we haven’t seen anything yet!
