Discover the world of Transistor, a sci-fi-themed action RPG from the creators of Bastion.

From the creators of Bastion, Transistor is a sci-fi themed action RPG that invites you to wield an extraordinary weapon of unknown origin as you fight through a stunning futuristic city. Transistor seamlessly integrates thoughtful strategic planning into a fast-paced action experience, melding responsive gameplay and rich atmospheric storytelling. During the course of the adventure, you will piece together the Transistor’s mysteries as you pursue its former owners.
Everything in Transistor just screams a beautiful serenade to a genre that is filled with tons of great titles and yet somehow, Transistor finds its place and sets itself apart by stunning graphics. Set in a science fiction themed world, Transistor is one to keep your eye on and if you are in the market for an action RPG, grab this one!
As any action RPG, this game is all about getting through fights and figuring out what to do. This game superbly introduces a new type of tactical attacks where you can stop time, plan your attack and go head on for a swift attack. This planning is where the money lies and boy, was this ever an intense game.
You can fight real time, but it leaves you open to attacks and in games like these, you will naturally adapt to a hit and run principle. Start the instant time attack, plan what to do, whether you go round a corner and attack from the back or head in from the front, you got just mere seconds to decide.
It is in those mere moments that this game is built. Whether you go for the quick attack or hit and run, it all decides how you will experience this game. Transistor for me, it was mostly both. I used hit and run when multiple enemies were on my back, up to head on attacks for when I was being hunted by just one enemy.
Obviously, there are limits to the system and you can not just head into attack mode all the time, there is a cooldown mechanic after all. I love the variety in attacks and at the same time, I hate them. There really are too many attacks to be mentioned and I tend to prefer automated upgrades to my fighting system, not a maze of options to pick from.
It is mostly nitpicking though, Transistor is beautifully designed and just a delight to play. It is the right level of hard and unless you stop thinking while playing, you are going to be in for quite the experience!
In conclusion, Transistor holds its grounds in the battle for great Action RPG supremacy and really comes out strong. Both graphically and gameplay are hits and I can only recommend this game wholeheartedly.
