Easy to learn and hard to master; it is easy to pick up and even easier to learn, but don’t let that fool you! During your adventure, you will face increasingly difficult challenges that will require you to master the game’s controls on the journey to becoming a true Hero. And while Flat Heroes comes along with a very minimalistic art style, it’s spiced up with stunning effects making it one truly unique eye candy experience.

Got stuck in the campaign or want to survive longer in the challenge modes? Too intense for you to take on alone? Let your friends join the party; Flat Heroes is the perfect couch co-op experience! Invite a few friends, get some pizza and overcome the challenges together!

At first, you know nothing about how to play the game and it is very much hit and miss, but stick in there. It slowly becomes one of the best games you will play on Nintendo Switch. As you progress down the game, it becomes more and more challenging but the short nature of the levels is exactly what is needed to keep playing. All revolves around staying alive.

When you start a level, you basically chose the path to stay alive. Incoming projectiles can be static or very fluid. Projectiles like lasers bounce off of the playing field and become more and more dangerous. Now imagine even more projectiles in the playing field, like homing missiles. We all know how harsh they can be from other games and in Flat heroes, they are exactly the same. The further down the game, it also becomes way more fun. At one point, you even get locked in, unable to move but those projectiles are not stopping though…

During my gameplay of the initial levels, I never really felt the game was very hard. That changed the second I was introduced to the boss fights. Those are on another level and while the first boss is still relatively easy, that changes pretty much right away. Either the level becomes a fight against multiple enemies or against time or worse… This is so much fun.

The best part? Instant retry when you failed to hit that successful landing in a level. In the second world, there is this one level testing your speed, you need to bounce off of the walls in order to go up to a platform which is out of reach of the projectiles. It is cut so close, I had a few misses but when I hit the platform and made it… that was one awesome feeling.

What I also adored about this game, it proves my point that graphics do not matter when the game is amazing. The graphics are simplistic at best, but that is totally fine. I could not even imagine this game having high-resolution graphics, it is that great. At the current price point of 9,99, this deserves all your attention and if you are in the market for a new game, give this one a try.

In conclusion, Flat Heroes proves once again that a great game does not need amazing graphics. Flat Heroes is high paced and is a great game all around. You can consider this a game great for parties or single player. It combines multiple genres as it is both arcade and action platformer related but at the same time, reaction puzzling. In short, Flat Heroes is fantastic!
