Yes, that is really the title they picked for this game. That was not the only aspect of the game that is way too long. When you load in a simple race, you have to wait about 2 minutes for the loading screen to reach 100%. Then you are thrown into your first race with a little button guide on the side of the screen. I’ve played this on the Xbox One Console, let`s get to it.
When the intro scene of the first race starts, it was funny to see Red Bull as an advertiser on your driver’s shirt, in a game that is full of Monster energy ads. Then you have to choose your position in the line from where you start the race, but there is only one available slot at the far-right end. To Top things off, when you “completely voluntarily” choose your far-right position you don’t get to see the countdown for when the race starts.
So, you have to kind of guess when the bars will go down and you can start. You are almost guaranteed to have a bad start this way.
The music is always the same song in an endless loop. It’s not a bad song so, I don’t really mind but it crashes quite a lot, when the loading screen is doing its terribly long business, it sounds like the game has a few strokes. The sound effects on the motorcycles themselves are very nicely done. However, when you just hold in your accelerate button while airborne it sounds like you’re wrecking your motor, but that is probably true.
One of the other weird things I noticed was the fact that you have to accept terms and policies, but they are on a website which you have to look up yourself. That is kind of dubious but not unprecedented I guess. The menus are a bit old school, but there’s nothing wrong with that.
Now for the racing itself, Not much new here. You drive around the lap three times, and the higher you place, the more points you get. These points give you a score which makes you level up, when leveling up you unlock more game modes, sponsors and maps. You can customize your character and make him look the way you want him to. You can pick a bike, but only choose between 5 different bikes, each from a different manufacturer. There’s also an online mode, but this did not seem to work when I tried it, maybe that is for a later update.
Now, this game doesn’t live up to most other race games that are on the market at this moment. It would have been a good game if it was released a few years ago and the facial graphics of your character prove this. The graphics when racing, however, are very nice. Releasing a game like this now seems like a big advertisement for which you have to pay as well. I wouldn’t recommend it, especially not for €60,-. If you’re really into motocross and motocross games, then this might be a fun game for you! But for now, this does not get a high score in my book.
