Welcome to our review of Disgaea 5 Complete, the complete version for Nintendo Switch!
For those that never played a Disgaea game before, this is your typical tactical RPG game, but with anime style influences all throughout the game. As you play through the initial stages, you are taught how to play the game, how to strategies and even how to throw your allies at your enemies.
This silly game is incredibly huge, accounts for many hours of gameplay and starts off with you Seraphina, the sassy princess that meets up with Killia, a young demon eating food while battling, yes, you read that right, he eats during battles…

The main story of the game is centered around the idea of “revenge” and the evil demon emperor Void Dark comes to power, devastating several Netherworls as he uses his armies to battle everyone. Our story starts as the overlords of these Netherworlds try to stand up and take revenge.
Being your every day tactical RPG, this game is long, features literally a ton of possible attacks and defense patterns, ranging from picking up an ally, then picking up another ally with an ally on his shoulder, forming a chain of allies on top of other allies, then throwing them around the classical strategy RPG style map, using them to place your own allies to do massive damage to your enemies. Wow, that made no sense, but that really is the way to play this game at times, throw your friends around and make them attack!

As you progress, you are always taught new and crazy ways to perform attacks, whether it is to turn a Prinny, the helper penguin this game series is famous for, into a battle weapon or just to use them as a shield, there is such a vast amount of ways to play this game as well as crazy stuff to find out.

As the title of this game is Disgaea 5 Complete, it really means this is the complete game version, including all DLC of the game that came prior to the release on Nintendo Switch, as we all know, this is a game that already released on Sony Playstation 4 back in 2015, Nippon Ichi was kind enough to rerelease it, including all available extras.

But that is where this game failed in my humble opinion, after a very little amount of gameplay, you can unlock all these extras and they overwhelmed me big time, suddenly I had access to a ton of new worlds, many new allies, … making me lose sight of the main game, starting a side quest that led me to spend too much time, making me lose interest in the main game in return.
One of those specials that you get from all those extras is a Prinny with an unusually high level, that can be really helpful under normal circumstances, but I got bothered with how easy things had gotten…

In conclusion, this game is funny, crazy, wacky and just visually gorgeous. If you like these kinds of games, you will have a ton of fun playing this game, I am sure of it. The nature of the Nintendo Switch allows you to play this game on the go, a game that would usually turn you into a couch potato for approximately 80+ hours while playing, I can see the big advantage in that, a small battle while commuting, during a break at work, …
The problem for me, all the extras just distracted me and eventually made me quit playing because I had lost interest. Due to all this, I am rating it at 60%, it is a decent game but has flaws due to being “complete”…
For the collectors out there, the Collector’s Edition of this game really is gorgeous and is a must for any fan of the series!
