The toys to life market is the next big thing in gaming. Activision discovered it with Skylanders and both Disney and Nintendo followed with Infinity and Amiibo. All three companies have a different approach to it; but it seems like Disney is really doing it right with Disney Infinity. Why? Let’s find out!
Great figurines
First of all, a toys to life game wouldn’t be any good if the collectable figurines didn’t look good. Disney was up for a challenge to create fitting figurines. Since the company owns a lot of famous licenses, they needed to come up with a universal design for its figurines. A design that would look good on Mickey Mouse, Jack Sparrow and even the Marvel heroes. So they decided to take a step back and eliminate some of the character’s details in order to create a more universal, even cartoony look for their characters.
Needless to say, this worked out great. All figurines in the Disney Infinity line look incredibly good. They look very solid and don’t need any kind of support unlike some Amiibo figurines. The more rare and special figurines in the Disney line are worth getting but even the most common ones look great. It’s a very appealing design for young and old gamers to enjoy.
Great story based games
Creating great figurines is one thing but you’ll need to have a cool game to play as well. Unlike Nintendo, Disney created a game where you can use all your figurines, aside of the story-based games. Every generation, Disney Infinity reinvent itself. This happened last time with the Marvel heroes and will happen again when Disney Infinity 3.0 hits stores, including Star Wars characters. It doesn’t matter which version you’ll get eventually, the story is a great way to get to know your characters.
In Disney Infinity 2.0 you can scan famous Marvel heroes such as Thor, The Hulk, Iron Man and more to go on an adventure in the virtual New York. Every figurine has its own unique powers to advance in the story. Most story missions are actually great third person action adventure games. You need to discover new areas, solve some puzzles and fight a lot of bad guys. Disney Infinity is the perfect movie based videogame for younger gamers but even more experienced gamers will learn to appreciate it!
Unlock the true potential in the Toy Box
The biggest bonus in Disney Infinity on the other hand is the huge Toy Box mode. Fans were disappointed when they learned that their 1.0 figurine wouldn’t unlock a new story in 2.0. The same will likely happen when the 3.0 version rolls out but that doesn’t mean your figurines are useless once a new version is released. Thanks to the incredible Toy Box, you’ll be able to enjoy all your figurines in a world you create.
Toy Box can best be described as a fusion of LittleBigPlanet and Minecraft. In this mode you’re free to built whatever you want. Disney gives you the tools to create several games in several worlds. The only limitation is your imagination. Every new version of Infinity comes with new ways of playing in the Tool Box. This keeps the franchise fresh and keeps your figurines useful every time a new version of the game hits the shelves.
You can actually find the figurines in stores
So we come to the final reason why Disney Infinity is doing it right. As you know, Amiibo and even some Skylanders are very hard to find in stores. Making it near possible for fans to collect their favorite figurine. This isn’t the case with Disney Infinity. Sure, the franchise has its more rare figurines but every figurine gets a right amount of shipments to give fans a true shot at collecting them all. Isn’t this the reason why you should start a toy to life collection? To be able to get every figurine you want? Well, if so, Disney Infinity is the right game to start your collection.
Aside of the figurines you can also buy level packs or power-ups to unlock certain new maps or vehicles in your Toy Box. All in all we can say that Disney Infinity does everything you want from a toys to life game. So if you’re interested in the Disney, Marvel or Star Wars universe and are looking for a new hobby, than this is the game you need to own. We can’t wait to see what the Star Wars edition (Infinity 3.0) has to offer. Stay tuned!
