Last Sunday we attended the Antwerp Convention, a sci-fi, comic and game convention full of interesting things. It was the second time the Antwerp Convention took place but the content already was overwhelming. In this report we’ll discuss why you have to be there next year.
The Antwerp Convention isn’t that big compared to F.A.C.T.S or Made in Asia but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The convention offers you a complete set-up of unique and fun entertainment. First of all you’ll be able to buy a lot of different comic books and merchandise at the convention. Not only comic merchandise but also merchandise like signed movie posters or numerous gaming figurines. A sci-fi fan, game fan or movie fan will definitely find something that he/she wants to add to their collection.
Next to the ability to buy several neat things, the Antwerp Convention also offers other sources of entertainment. One of these sources is the Dutch Robot Games. Ever wanted to see custom built robots face each other in the arena? Look no further, only at the Antwerp Convention you’ll be able to witness those machines in action.
But there is more, during the Antwerp Convention cosplayers all over the country were able to show off their craftsmanship with their beautiful costumes. The cosplayers could enter a competition as well where prizes were given depending on how well their costumes pleased the crowd and judges. Cosplayers are definitely of worth for this convention because let’s face it, even if you don’t like to dress up yourself, it’s always fun to watch others do it.
So we had fighting robots, cosplayers and merchandise, what about some games? You’ll find plenty of those here as well. On the Antwerp convention you’re able to play modern or retro games and that’s an interesting mix. The retro games go back to the earlier years of gaming while you’ll also be able to play more modern games like Rayman or Halo. It’s always fun to challenge your friend in a small gaming contest.
Talking about challenges, Antwerp Convention also offered the chance to play laser tag in a pre-set environment made of plastic walls. We at GamingBoulevard accepted the challenge and teamed up to battle for the crown. Needless to say, we took the crown back home.
As you can see the Antwerp Convention has so lot to offer and will definitely become bigger and bigger the way things are going. If you want to see for yourself what it’s all about, be sure to check out our video montage. We hope to see you next year!
