There are a lot of great hidden objects games on Nintendo Switch and There’s No Dinosaurs 2 is one of the newest entries in the genre. Is it worth looking for dinosaurs? Let’s find out!
Find the dinosaurs
The premise of There’s No Dinosaurs 2 is simple, you’re tasked to find all the hidden dinosaurs on a black and white painting, and once you find and click on it, it will get colored. Nothing more and nothing less. This is one of those hidden object games but thanks to the lack of color it adds a level of difficulty to it, making it harder to recognize the patterns and find the dinosaurs. Rating a game like this isn’t that easy since there’s really not that much to talk about so let’s focus on what it does well and what could have been better.
First things first, I like the style of the drawings, looking for dinosaurs is fun and can be challenging at times due to the smooth lines and the way they are truly hidden inside the drawings. What I dislike about it is the fact that it’s exactly that, a drawing, not an interactive environment with animated objects. It’s a bit of a shame since it’s not like the genre isn’t represented on the console. Games like Hidden Folks show how an animated black-and-white hidden object game might work so when you compare that to this one it’s all a bit disappointing. It’s not like it would have been that hard to make it more like a game instead of a clickable drawing. This is without a doubt my biggest issue with this release, it feels like a quick release without really putting in the effort or work.
It’s over too soon
Besides this, it’s also a very short game that can be completed in less than one hour. Sure, you can always return to break your previous record time but let’s be honest, once you played the levels there isn’t that much new to see. I see this game working for a younger audience and I’m convinced that the targeted audience will certainly enjoy their time with it but in all honesty, it’s just over too soon and there are way better alternatives on the market.
