Welcome to our review of Crysis Remastered Collection, the standard setting game at one time has now gotten a full remaster and we played it!
Crysis 1:
What begins as a simple rescue mission becomes the battleground of a new war as alien invaders swarm over a chain of North Korean islands. Playing as super-soldier Prophet, you are armed with a powerful Nanosuit equipped with Speed, Strength, Armor, and Cloaking abilities. Use a vast arsenal of modular weaponry and adapt your tactics and gear to dominate enemies in an enormous sandbox world.
Ah, Crysis 1, the legend, the standard, the game that was so long the sole reference in gaming. We have come a very long way since. I actually recently reinstalled it on my Xbox Series X thanks to EA play and had so many memories from this game come back. The crappy night vision and the inability to properly pick up some ammo at times. Having to sneak around big time in order to get my kills in, … Memories, right?
Well, the Remaster fixes almost all of these problems, all except the ammo, which is still as frustrating as ever. The game did age well on any aspect but that. Heck, I even enjoyed going into night vision in the new version. A more than decent remaster if I may so myself. Maybe the small annoyance of the ammo that should be fixed. I know it is more about nostalgia, but really this should get fixed.
Crysis 2:
Aliens have returned to a world ravaged by climate disasters. As the invaders lay waste to New York and begin an assault that threatens the total annihilation of humankind, only you have the technology to lead the fightback. Equipped with the upgraded Nanosuit 2.0, customize your suit and weapons in real-time and unlock powerful new abilities in the battle for humanity’s survival.
Crysis 2 might be one of my favorite shooters of the old ages, just kidding. It was a really great game and I have known for long that when I play shooters, they should be more or less like this game. I strongly felt the same while playing through the Gears of Wars games and quite frankly, I love how pretty and clear they made this game. Despite having no more secrets for me, I still enjoyed picking up the controller and starting my journey.
Compared to the original, I must say that aside from a few details, this game looked a lot more like the current generation. Not that it looks anything like that aforementioned Gears of War game, which really is on a different level, but despite its (maybe) dated gaming mechanics, this remaster brings us a clear view of what a “for the time” advanced gaming mechanic was all about. Crysis as a series is a great example of contemporary shooters.
Crysis 3:
Returning to the fight as super-soldier Prophet, the search for the alien Alpha Ceph continues, but now you must also expose the truth behind the C.E.L.L. corporation, which has turned New York City into a sprawling urban rainforest sheltered by a giant nanodome. Fight through seven distinct districts and decimate your opponents in a blaze of brute force using the Nanosuit’s superior technology, or use stealth to achieve your goals and become humanity’s silent savior. Equipped with your powerful and deadly new Predator Bow, there’s no wrong way to save the world.
Crysis 3 aged very well and might have become my fave out of the trilogy. I do recall loving the bow and all, despite the lack of arrows haha. What really appealed to me is that there is more emphasis on the sneaking part and less on dealing massive damage, which I really enjoyed more than my recollection of the previous playthrough.
Maybe I should call this trilogy a very successful version of games that may not have perfectly survived the test of time, but if you are more a fan of mindless shooting rather than managing 20 different guns in an inventory you mostly ignore, this trilogy might be right up your alley.
In conclusion, great games to play and still great as having actual replay value. I kind of wish we got more Crysis incoming of this caliber…
