Microsoft is preparing for the launch of the Xbox Music Service on October 26th. The new music service should launch together with the new version of their operating system, Windows 8.
Xbox Music Service is a part of Microsofts SkyDrive-integration, which allows users to save music and playlists in the cloud. Microsoft is considering to develop the service for iOS and Android as well in the future.
The new musicservice of Microsoft is available for free and streams music with advertisements inbetween. It’s also possible to have a subscription to the service, to avoid publicity. The service will contain more than 30 million songs and has multiple social features. Users can see what their friends are listening to and they can also listen to popular songs. The service will be available on Windows Phone, Windows 8 and Xbox 360.
The service shows a lot of similarity to Spotify, the online music streaming software.
