E3 2019 will officially kick off later today with the anticipated Xbox press conference. Before it’s time for that, let’s look forward to what the last big player has to offer. Time for some Nintendo predictions!
Timmy:
I have very high expectations for Nintendo at this year’s E3 and I think we will see no less than 10 new titles announced for Nintendo Switch. While most of these will be non-Nintendo in origin, the heavy hitters will be there. I hope for the long-rumored SNES games to appear on the online app and I would not even say no against a physical release of the current games either.
We already know quite a few heavy hitters that are coming, Pokemon is getting its own Direct next week so the presence of Pokemon will be short and powerful, this mainly due to the majority of the time that will be dedicated to both Animal Crossing and Luigi’s Mansion! LM is my personal favorite of the announced games and to name a title that I think will be announced, a new Breath of Fire would be awesome!
Also, we will see more collaborations between Nintendo and Microsoft in the works!
Nick:
To make up for the lack of Metroid Prime 4 progress I’m kind of hoping for that rumored Metroid Prime Trilogy to come to the switch.
I personally am looking forward to hearing more about Fire Emblem Three Houses and Bayonetta 3.
New fighters DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will surely be announced.
Nick de Reiger:
Nintendo has always been my favorite developer, so yes I have high hopes for some good, quality content. I still hope for a remake (or re-release?) of the original Metroid Prime Trilogy, certainly with the release of MP4 on the horizon (maybe something to be shown even?). Pokémon will be present, with Sword & Shield and even some more information on the new Detective Pikachu game, which should be bundled with the 3DS version (as a port) in my opinion, so I can play it on my Switch.
Next, to the Triple-A titles, I think we will see a lot of Nindie action. Indiegames do very well on the Nintendo Switch, so it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that Nintendo gives more details about the new gems that will be featured on the Nintendo Switch. Same goes for the addition of SNES games to the Nintendo Online library (come on bring me Super Mario RPG please..). On that note, let’s give us a proper sequel to Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door, and I will be quiet (until Microsoft decides to port Rare Replay..).
Jean De Coster:
It’s this time of the year again and with Nintendo having left the “stage” formula for a while now and adopting the “Nintendo Direct” upgrade it’s bound to have more content in less time! What do I expect?
Donkey Kong! I hope our favorite monkey has a new adventure for us to play on Switch! Whether they go full 3D world or Side view 2-3D doesn’t really matter to me. DK has this summery vibe where I just want to sip some cocktails and chill on the beach playing my Switch under the shade of a banana tree. It’s been too long since we’ve had a good new DK game! GO BANANAS!
Zelda has got another 2 releases with Link’s Awakening’s remake and the Cadence of Hyrule crossover. But whilst those look really nice I hope to see a glimpse if only a concept art of the real native Switch (pro?) Zelda game. Breath of the Wild was critically acclaimed and while it was great it wasn’t built for the Switch alone. I’m sure without the WiiU limitation Nintendo can create the next true masterpiece!
What else? Well, I hope for some new Mario Kart Deluxe content, Animal Crossing footage, F-Zero and the reveal of the rumored Switch mini and/or Pro? With the GameBoy’s anniversary, it would be cool to have the Switch mini available in those classic colors to empathize its joyful portable focus. And as for the rumored Pro version I’m definitely all ears to hear about the specs this portable beast will bring. Maybe Twitch streaming? Please?
We’ll see what it brings! It’s bound to be exciting that’s for sure!
