When the Xbox One first released, it didn’t have the best possible launch to put it lightly. That didn’t keep it from becoming a popular system, however. Over the years, Microsoft managed to pull in a lot of gamers with an amazing first and third party line-up. Everything was going smoothly until recently. Sales are declining, the Xbox One X isn’t as popular as hoped and the exclusive games are lacking in quality. Microsoft needed to save the Xbox One (X) and the E3 2018 press conference was the perfect stage to do so.
Games for everybody
If Microsoft wanted to ‘save’ the Xbox One consoles, it had to bring a lot of great games to the table. Right from the start, it was clear the company wouldn’t disappoint. With a brand-new Halo Infinite as the start of the show, it was clear, we were getting a lot of new and amazing games. With a total of fifty showcased games, including eighteen world premieres and fifteen Xbox One/PC exclusives, it looks like Microsoft finally got back on track. Not only did they increase the number of quality games, they also made sure everybody got something to look forward to after the conference came to an end.
Hardcore gamers can’t wait to get their hands on the new Halo, Forza, Jump Force, Dying Light 2, and many more while more mainstream gamers will love games such as Captain Spirit, offering a more colorful take on the Xbox One library. Summing up all games that were revealed on the stag will simply cost me too much time and this isn’t the place nor type of article to do so. In conclusion, it really looks like Xbox gamers have great months and even years ahead of us, what Microsoft delivered on the stage today is simply amazing and it’s just what the Xbox One (X) needed. More studios = more exclusive games
If you want to make great games, you’ll need some good studios and in-house developers. Recently, the Microsoft Studios games aren’t always of the quality we’re used to. With recent releases of Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2 scoring lower than expected, fans all over the world started to worry about the future of Xbox. It simply looked like the company was losing interest in the gaming area and even cut back on the budget. Nothing to worry about after this conference!

Microsoft invested in a lot of studios, with the opening of a new Santa Monica based studio called ‘The Initiative’, Microsoft invested in a new in-house Microsoft Studios studio. Besides that, they also bought some impressive studios like Undead Labs, Ninja Theory, Compulsive Games and Playground Games, the Microsoft studios just got a lot bigger. It might seem like not that important during a conference filled with great new games, but this acquiring of new studios is a very impressive fact, proving that Microsoft doesn’t want to cut back on their Xbox One platform at all, instead, it seems like they want all the extra help they can get. I simply can’t wait to see what these new studios have to offer on the platform in the coming months.
You might want an Xbox One X now
But what about the Xbox One X? We know a lot of fans bought the console on launch but Microsoft expected a lot more from it, starting with better sales. Since it was brought on the market as the most powerful console ever, not many games demonstrated this raw power that was hiding underneath the hood. Sure, Assassin’s Creed: Origins already showed us a glimpse of what was next to come but it’s during this E3 conference that we truly saw the potential of Microsoft’s most powerful console. If you take a look at the above trailer, it looks like games are finally using that extra power of the console. We’re really impressed with this quality and I’m guessing a lot of gamers will pick the Xbox One X up in stores if they want to experience all those new and upcoming (exclusive) games.
Conclusion:
After the E3 press conference, there’s simply no doubt about it. Microsoft wants you to buy an Xbox On (X) console and it wants you to do it now. With a lot of great and amazing new games coming up, including new entries in the Halo, Gears of War, and Forza franchise, it really looks like Microsoft is locking down everything fans wanted all that time. Combine this with the true power of the Xbox One X and we can only conclude that Microsoft managed to save the Xbox One (X) from declining sales with strong games, more investments in gaming studios and perhaps even the best overall line-up they had in years.
