There are two kinds of people. The ones saying the Vita is dead and there are no games on it. And then there are the ones that still find great indie or obscure games on the console. But one look at Blast ‘ Em Bunnies makes both wish the console was dead. Blast ‘Em Bunnies is not a good game.
Blast those bunnies.
There isn’t really any other narrative to Blast ‘Em Bunnies other than evil bunnies try to ruin a supposedly good bunny’s day. So he decides to shoot them with carrots. But the bunnies won’t stop coming. It’s a perpetual cycle of violence and torture that perfectly reflects the player’s emotion when playing. The only time the player’ bunny celebrates is after being killed knowing their and your suffering has ended and both are in a happier place. In a way, Bast ‘Em Bunnies reflects the daily rut people seem to be trapped in and reflects it in gameplay. Maybe Blast ‘Em Bunnies is genius. But it’s way more likely it’s just garbage.
Don’t expect a lot of story in this game.
Repetitive and boring.
Blast ’em bunnies is simple. You as the player sit behind a turret that shoots carrots at “evil” bunnies. That’s it. The game is literally a turrets section made a full game. It’s nothing but you trying to survive wave after wave of bunnies. There are several different kinds of bunnies with different attack and movement patterns but when your only option is aim and shoot variation will not make any difference. Players can upgrade their lives or gun to help survive the odds but this means the player will be able to play longer which is more of a punishment than a perk. The game is just not fun. It’s like a Flash game you can find on something like funnygame.com or any other flash game site and even by those standards, it’s boring.
The gameplay is repetitive and boring.
Visually bland and unappealing.
Visually Blast ‘Em Bunnies looks bad. All the environments look bland and the enemy models look bad. It’s as bad as when dying, the bunny that controls the turrets falls forward clipping trough the gun. Or on the main menu screen, the bunny sleeps with its eyes open. Nothing looks nice on a visual or design level. The music is also bland and forgettable. The UI is also very cluttered and having to press R instead of the default X button while nothing criminal, is extremely bizarre. Absolutely nothing looks good about Blast ’em Bunnies.
Just look at this…
| The good: | The bad: |
| – visually dreadful | |
| – boring repetitive | |
| – It’s the same thing over and over again |
It’s baffling that Blast ‘Em Bunnies made it on the Vita. In general, the game doesn’t have any glitches or bugs but there’s no real room for that when there’s not much game here. It’s just a boring Turret section and nothing else. There are no interesting mechanics or any mechanics other than aim, shoot, and power-ups. There is nothing exciting or creative about Blast ‘Em Bunnies and everything just looks appalling and lazy. Avoid Blast ‘Em Bunnies at all cost.
