Level 5, the studio behind Professor Layton and Fantasy Life held a conference yesterday, revealing their plans for the future.
What will this future bring? A lot of sequels and Yo-kai Watch for the USA and Europe!
Level 5 kicked off their conference with good news for gamers in America or Youtube. Millionseller Yo-Kai Watch will finally release outside of Japan! Nintendo publish this game in the West and Hasbro will create special toys for the game, releasing Spring 2016. The game itself will release a little sooner than that. Yo-Kai Watch is a real success in Japan so Level-4 is hoping for a success in the rest of the world as well.
In Japan, the Yo-Kai Watch hype will get even bigger thanks to three new games in the franchise. The biggest game is of course Yo-Kai Watch 3, staring a new protagonist called Inaho Misora and is set in America. This game will release in December on the 3DS. No word yet on a release in the West.
Aside of this, Level-5 also plans to release two spin-off games set in the Yo-Kai Watch universe. Yo-kai Records of the Three Kingdoms is a new collaboration with Tecmo Koei and will be a very strategic game, will be similar to Pokémon Conquest. The second is called Yo-kai Watch Busters: Red Cat Troupe en White Dog Unit and features a mini-game similar to Ghost Busters. These two games aren’t planned for Europe or USA right now.
Next, it’s time to talk about the new Professor Layton and second Fantasy Life game. Both games where pretty big on Nintendo 3DS so you would expect the sequels to launch on Nintendo’ portable as well. A lot of fans will be disappointed to hear that both game won’t release for 3DS but will launch for the mobile market instead. It’s unsure how these games will look like and if they ever get ported to a Nintendo system later on. For now, they will only release on phones.
To conclude the plans for the future, Level-5 also revealed a new franchise called The Snack World, also on Nintendo 3DS. The Snack World will also have its own anime and toys in Japan. Not much is known about this game yet but it appears to follow the Fantasy Life formula. The game will also support NFC figures to unlock certain ‘bonuses’. Amiibo support confirmed?
