Welcome to our review of Oxytone, a chill and laid-back puzzle game on Nintendo Switch that is just all-around fun to play!
Are you ready for a unique adventure like no other? Oxytone invites you to explore the depths of your mind while offering a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life for those seeking relaxation. For more determined players, there are 99 challenges, colorful themes to unlock, and 12 meticulously designed maps. Oxytone is the ultimate puzzle game, equally easy to learn and challenging to master.
Strive for the highest scores by creating the longest paths and achieving impressive combinations. Every move matters, and success depends on strategy and planning. You can discard tiles that don’t fit your plan, but this reduces your pool of available tiles. To refresh it, you must fill tiles by guiding paths through them six times, deepening the mechanics further.
Sound is an integral part of Oxytone, so I recommend playing with headphones. This will immerse you even deeper into the game. The sound design has been crafted with great care to create a unique and relaxing atmosphere, yet it can also deliver powerful moments when needed.
Oxytone is one of those games where you really need to grow into the flow. At first sight, this might be a waste of effort when you can not figure out properly how the game works, but we got you figured, the one sole trick, look to your bottom right. The number of remaining moves is right there and secondly, you need to avoid returning to base. That busts your game and let me tell you this, when you go for a massive streak, there is no bigger disappointment to get busted because you end up returning to base and then… Boom, end of play.
Oxytone is basically ingenious and the worst of cruel mistresses ever. But I love it so much, this game is amazing, the first time you hit a multiple connection thread or that first time you beat a minimum needed to advance, those are incredibly rewarding compared to the cruel moment that you accidentally return to base when going for a 12 streak.
Ah, Oxytone, I knew from the start I would like you, but this game exceeded my expectations quite a bit as it just kept growing on me. I just love smart puzzle games and this is one for the ages. I won’t spend too much of your time and just let you go and buy it yourself, let us know on social media how much you like it!
In conclusion, great puzzle games deserve great scores, despite the cruelty involved in early busts or unmeant deaths.
