Oh, sorry, I did not notice you there. I was too busy dancing with my daughter to the newest and hottest tracks featured in Just Dance 2023. We know every move to the new K3 song Vleugels by now, so we have to show those off. And it’s a great addition – not just the K3 song, but the 2023 version of Just Dance. Let’s dance in!
The first bit sounded commercial, but I’m genuinely hyped for this edition. So no, Ubisoft is not paying me to write these words. Scouts honor (well, on my wife’s scouting experience, I never went to the scouts).
Just Dance 2023
Welcome to a new era of dance with Just Dance 2023 Edition! For the first time, dance to BTS with “Dynamite” and other top-chart hits! Now with new online multiplayer, personalization, 3D immersive worlds, and new songs and modes year-round, you can experience a never-ending dance party all year long! However, before we dive into the multiplayer part, let’s discuss the new interface and 3D worlds since these are great additions.
Each Just Dance entry comes with the 40 hottest tracks from your favorite artists and usually are set against a colorful backdrop or a bit of moving parts with glowing avatars, as we know from the cover of Just Dance. In the 2023 version, they upgraded these features. They included some relaxed 3D environments, ranging from palaces (K3) to gothic backdrops (Evanescence) or just a whole forest (Mr. Blue Sky, oke, that one was already included in 2022 and before, but it’s my daughter’s favorite).
Dancing in Multiverses
The song range from Harry Styles to BTS and Encanto (we don’t talk about Bru-no-no-no). But also features songs like STAY, Numb (Linkin Park), and Sweet but Psycho from Ava Max. So again, an extensive section of songs with enough to choose from for every song enthusiast. Next to the 40 new songs, there is also the back-catalog of Just Dance+, which features the old songs from the previous editions. A side note on this one – Ubisoft is working on it – is that I could not use the Dance Pass I bought in 2022 for this version. This is because just Dance 2023 uses a new version of the system, and you can’t use them both a the same time, so I need to find a way around this to access +
Interface and new features
I hated the previous version of Just Dance quite a bit for the lack of updates and the feel that it was just Just Dance 2021 with a smack of paint. Well, Ubisoft listened (at least, I hope I had a positive influence). Thanks to a new, more modern & intuitive user interface, everything is one click away: playlists, game modes, and songs! More time dancing, less time searching! It feels modern and shows how a game in 2023 should look, feel and play. Another great addition is the option to download the catalog to your system, which means – Offline Play! So you can bring your system to the park and do a dance-off with some random stranger without a hotspot! The sky is the limit.
Conclusion
It’s still Just Dance – but in a new, improved pair of shoes. The game feels brand new and plays excellently. I tested it with our Joy-Cons and the Smartphone function on the Nintendo Switch, and I can’t say I felt any difference in gameplay. The new User Interface is a significant improvement, and the chosen tracks will cater to a whole broad spectrum of players, old and new. If you excuse me, I will start a campaign to bring “That That” by Psy and Jung Kook to Just Dance. Nick out!
