Review: Razer Blade Stealth 13

If you want to play games on a laptop, you’ll often end up with a rather big and heavy model, limiting your freedom of movement, making it a lot harder to carry it around with you everywhere you go. The Razer Blade Stealth 13 is a different kind of breed. It looks like an Ultrabook but comes with the raw power of a true gaming laptop. After spending some time with it, I can say that this piece of technology is very impressive, to say the least.

A smaller beast

If you compare the Razer Blade Stealth to the more advanced Razer Blade models, you’ll immediately notice the differences in size and weight. The Stealth 13 is a lightweight amongst gaming laptops and comes at a compact size thanks to its 13.3 OLED touch screen. With its 15.3 millimeter thickness and impressive weight of 1.41 kilograms, this is a gaming laptop you can easily carry around with you everywhere you go. I noticed I carried the Stealth 13 around everywhere I went, enabling me to continue playing my games without being forced to carry around a heavy laptop. Its size and weight are certainly one of the system’s many selling points. Since it’s so small and light, you can easily hold it in one hand while sending that important mail with your other hand, not something you’ll often do but nice to know it’s possible. It doesn’t really matter that much for gaming but since this is a pretty powerful laptop, it’s the perfect companion for everything you do. This quickly became my editing station for my YouTube videos and Instagram posts thanks to its compatibility. It has all the power you’ll need for your everyday use and even pushes beyond those standards.

A powerful gaming laptop

Since this is a Razer product, you already know that gaming forms the center of this laptop and the Stealth 13 won’t disappoint. It has all the right specs to enjoy all your modern games. If you want to see a full breakdown of the specs themselves, you can check them out at the official Razer page here. As in all of my tech reviews, I like to focus on my experience rather than the raw specs. The first game I played on this small beast was the limited E3 demo of Olliolli World which worked like a charm. The Stealth had no problem at all rendering these gorgeous cartoony graphics while maintaining the rather fast-paced flow of the game itself. Next to that I also played some strategic games which were a perfect match for the Stealth 13, especially when they supported touch screen controls. Next to that I also tested some more competitive games such as Overwatch and Warzone, and while they couldn’t be played at the max settings, the Stealth 13 did a more than decent job. Never did I experience input lag or visual glitches while gaming. The Stealth 13 is a beast although the more demanding games won’t run on the max settings due to some limitations compared with its bigger brothers. Is this something to worry about? Absolutely not, with its current specs, you can enjoy all games with ease and they’ll still look very impressive while playing!

The only main downside to the laptop itself might be its smaller screen. While a 13.3 OLED screen is as crisp and bright as they get, it is rather small. If you want to use this laptop for true competitive play, it’s better to hook on a separate monitor so you won’t miss any of the action on your screen. The screen is intentionally kept small for the compatibility of the laptop but if you’re used to playing on bigger monitors, this will possibly be a major downside. That being said, since it’s an OLED screen, your games will look amazingly crisp and beautiful, the size of the screen never bothered me thanks to this quality of the screen, but I guess that’s just a personal opinion.

Besides the size of the screen, the price is perhaps a bit steep but you’ll certainly get something good for your money. Just like with every other Razer product on the market, you basically know you’re buying quality. Although I won’t go deep into the details, the Stealth 13 offers everything you expect from your typical Razer product. From fully customizable keys to a gorgeous RGB-lights that can be programmed to certain keys. It’s all here and it’s all adding to the value of the laptop.

Conclusion:

The Razer Blade Stealth 13 is a solid laptop for gaming and an even better option if you’re looking for a lightweight editing machine. With its powerful specs, this beauty is able to perform beyond your expectations. Sure, the screen is a bit small and the price is a bit steep, but in the end, you’ll know for sure you’re buying quality. If you’re looking for a compact and easy-to-carry laptop with some impressive raw power, this is the one you need.
