The Yu-Gi-Oh universe has been around for a couple of years and even today, the Trading Card Game community of the franchise is still very active. Recently, Phantom Rage was added to the TCG scene and it’s full of surprises and new ways to build your most powerful deck to date. Let’s check it out!
New cards for everyone
First things first, this set comes with some new Starlight Rare cards, which are of course, extremely rare. Some of these new rare cards include The Phantom Knights of Torn Scales, Alpha, the Master of Beasts, Dvine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder, and Tri-Brigade Ferrijit the Barren Blossom. It’s pretty clear they wanted to make something special for the strongest cards in the new sets and in my opinion, they really succeeded. All of these Starlight Rares can really alter the way you play and build your deck, giving you even more options and more characters than ever before. Besides that, the new cards look amazing design-wise and really fit in well with all other cards released over the years.
These Starlight Rares are without a doubt the cards everyone wants to have in their collection and are already being sold for absurdly high numbers. It’s a great addition for the card collectors but all of them are also extremely useful for those who actually play the Trading Card Game. Of course, the fun doesn’t stop there just yet as Phantom Rage comes packed with new possibilities. This set is mainly focused on the combining of Phantom Knights and Raidraptors. This to help the two different strategies or even combining them. On each faction, you’ll get a lot of new highly rewarding stats that can really alter the way you play the game. As with every new expansion, it will take a while to get used to the new cards and their stats but in the end, it’s worth investing your time.
We won’t go into full tactical information here as it’s clearly different for everyone how they will use the cards but it’s good to know that the new set comes with something for everyone. Besides the combination of Phantom Knights and Raidraptors there are tons of other things to discover here:
Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME Phantom Rage doesn’t just remaster popular themes from the past, it unites them as well. You can find new PhantomKnight and Raidraptor cards, but you can also find new cards that are Phantom Knights AND Raidraptors!
You can play these cards in their own Decks, but you can also create your own hybrid Deck that takes the best of each theme to max out your Xyz Summoning power. You can also find a new theme based on Fusion Summoning that excels at performing consecutive Fusion Summons. Normally, to Fusion Summon you, need to use a Spell Card for each Fusion Summon you perform along with multiple separate cards to use as materials, but this brand-new theme is anchored by a powerful Spell Card that Summons up to 5 Tokens you can use for Fusion Summoning…and then lets you Fusion Summon twice consecutively!
- What else can you expect from Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME Phantom Rage?
- 17 World Premiere cards, the most ever in a single booster set!
- The long-awaited crossover between “U.A.” and “F.A.”!
- New Ritual, Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, and Link Monsters!
- More cards to enhance strategies introduced in Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME Rise of the Duelist!
- And more!
Conclusion:
Phantom Rage isn’t as groundbreaking as some other sets that released in the past but all things considered, it’s a pretty fun set overall. It offers a great new archetype to counter several problems while both Phantom Knights and Raidrapoters received a considerable boost. The best part about it is probably its diversity, giving you a lot of new tools to use in a wide variation of decks. I’m pretty sure the fans of the scene will love the new additions while it might feel a bit overwhelming for new players. Don’t let this scare you however as there’s a lot of fun buried underneath all the complex rules of the Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card Game. A perfect Holiday gift for the fans!
