Double Pug switch is one of those runner games that starts well but ends in complete frustration. After a really funny intro, you are sadly struck with the realization that the game is hard. Running left to right as the genre dictates, you will encounter a lot of obstacles that you need to avoid, getting hit, falling down, running into an obstacle, … They all make you restart at the last Save Point.
Sadly this is the recurring issue of this game, after a few minutes already you will be facing a barrage of obstacles in a row, from spikes to pits to changing foreground and background,… The annoyance I faced of this high difficulty spike, too much really and so many restarts that I got tired of the game instantly.
I am sure the running game aficionado will love this game but I think it stinks, it just is too hard straight from the start and I hate when games don’t ease you into things. It also gives very little explanation on new obstacles as it just assumes he will die and restart. Also had the constant feeling the jumping mechanic was off on long jumps…
like that one time where the pug became small without warning, sure it looked cute, but it was annoying. Not even forgetting the simplistic graphics that comes with this genre or the repetitive music in the background. No, I did not like this game, I did not have fun, I recommend against buying it. It is that simple, it is a bad game.
In conclusion, games like these make me hate being a game reviewer… It looks like it belongs on mobile.
