Love-Hate-Hearthstone
I have a love-hate relation with Hearthstone. I do enjoy the occasional games or singleplayer runs, but I wouldn’t say I like the fact that they upped the prices of packages and expansions. Every new expansion comes with +100 new cars (135 in the Scholomance Academy), each time with a unique twist. If you want to watch all of them, click right here. This time it’s Dual Class Cards and the Spellburst keyword.
Spellburst
So what’s Spellburst? Spellburst is a one-time-only effect after you cast a spell! With a Spellburst minion or weapon in play, throwing a Spell will activate its Spellburst effect. These effects can range from refreshing mana crystals to summoning minions or healing your hero’s. Quest cards, on the other hand, seem to be replaced with ‘Study’ cards. Studies are new spells that allow you to Discover a card immediately and also reduce the mana cost of the next card you play of that type. At Scholomance Academy, a dedicated study is rewarded with power! For the Demon Hunter and Hunter class, these can be extremely powerful and can fill the board with a lot of minions quickly.
Scholomance Academy marks the beginning of the second phase of the Year of the Phoenix. Between now and the next expansion, you can expect several significant updates, including balance patches, new Battlegrounds Heroes and minions, a seasonal event, a new solo experience, and Battlegrounds feature! A new game mode is on its way as well! If they are more like the ‘Galakrond’ and ‘Demon Hunter’ storylines, that would be fine by me – if it’s yet another dungeon run, I think I’m going to pass.
Conclusion
So, to conclude – I browsed a lot of these cards and going to take some of them for a test run today in some practice matches. I love to play as Mage/Rogue/Priest, so that should be fun in this new expansion. Dual Class cards should prove for some new and exciting combos – as already shown in the Tombs expansion, although the idea is now even more … developed? Phase 2 of the Year of the Phoenix should prove – interesting.
