Summary: Indie World Showcase (Aug. 2020)

Although a lot of fans were hoping for a general Nintendo Direct, the company aired a new Indie World instead. It was filled with new and upcoming indie games, and certainly worth the watch. Missed it? Check our summary here.

We kick things off with Hades that got featured with a gorgeous animated scene as the opening. It’s a rogue-like where you’ll be able to sink in tons of hours. If you played it on other platforms, you’ll be able to transfer your progress. Coming this Fall.

Next up, is a 90s inspired game called Hypnospace Outlaw, taking you back to the early days of the internet. Looking like a fun game and it’s releasing on August 27th or play the demo later today!

Moving on to another gorgeous opening scene, created in a cartoony style. It’s Spiritfarer which is a new management game. You play as Stella, who needs to help spirits to the afterlife by using her special boat. It seems like a rather unique game that’s certainly worth checking out when it releases on Nintendo Switch later today.

Something else completely is the cute looking Garden Story, which resembles traditional The Legend of Zelda games from the past but plays more like Animal Crossing. It includes a lot of different gameplay elements, making it your home away from home. Releasing in 2021.

Time for Subnautica and Subnautica Below Zero, the well-known game will come to Nintendo Switch. Releasing 2021.

Next up, a charming RPG where you follow the life of a game developer, by actually playing it! Takeshi & Hiroshi is releasing later today.

Raji an Ancient Epic is a new action-adventure game set in traditional India, using the rich tales of the culture. It looks great and will certainly offer an epic adventure, releasing later today as a timed exclusive for Switch.

Bear and Breakfast is another new management game where you run your own thriving Bed and Breakfast, of course, all with a twist. Coming as a timed exclusive in 2021.

Time for a walk in A Short Hike, a game all about finding your own pace. The world is created in a gorgeous cel-shaded style, making it fun to look at while playing. It appears there’s a lot to do, also coming later today as another timed exclusive.

Want a more artsy game? Maybe Card Shark is your cup of tea. Created in a gorgeous style, it’s all about cheating during card games, and looks like fun! Coming in 2021.

Looking for a more Torchlight action? Torchlight III just got revealed for Switch! This long-anticipated game adds a lot of extra gear and fun to the franchise and it’s looking great! Releasing this Fall.

Time for a new puzzler, here’s Manifold Garden. Where you’ll need to change your perspective in twisting puzzles, it’s also releasing later today!

Evergate is up next, a dreamlike, 2D platformer where you go on an adventure between life, death, and space. It makes me think of Ori and the Blind Forest, which is, of course, a huge compliment! It’s also coming later today!

Time to wrap up with a glimpse at more Indie games. Haven, Going Under, The Red Lantern, Unrailed!, Stuggling, Inmost, She Dreams Elsewhere, Grindstone, Gonner2. Where all included in here.

Oh and one more thing! Untitled Goose Game is back! But it appears there are two horrible geese this time! Work together and make it hard for the inhabitants of the village as a team. The two-player update is releasing September 23!
