Super Tennis may very well be the most non-tennis game out there and in itself, it is quite fun. It may feel a little basic at times, but I actually had more fun than anticipated. No serving or smashing the ball, the game does it all for you.
The advantages of not being responsible for smashing the ball inside or even outside the line, they are big. It is pretty much never your fault if you miss a game as long as you follow the basics of this game. It is basically like a rhythm game but in a weird way. On screen you see which buttons you need to tap and in what order.
If you keep hitting the right combo, you win the game and move to the next opponent. Once you win a few matches, you got the trophy. Easy as that though the game itself gets surprisingly interesting as you progress.
At first, basically just 2 maybe 3 buttons in a row will win you the game, but the combinations get more intense and longer. Even getting more and more buttons to press and longer volleys at that too. It slowly builds up the difficulty in all the right places and with the exception of some sort of permadeath, you lose 1 game, the tournament you are in, it will reset.
While Super Tennis is not a technological marvel or so, it is pretty basic in both graphics and gameplay, it still does succeed in doing the great job of proving my good old point. That being that a good game does not need to rely on amazing graphics or a high budget to be a great experience.
Super Tennis may not be the most complicated game, heck, I called it a basic game just a few lines earlier and still, it is fun. The frustration of losing a tournament in the finals is so damn real, that I kept pushing on to finally beat that one more tournament.
In conclusion, Super Tennis is a fun way to spend some spare minutes as games are fast and fun. For its price point, if you are in the market of something easy to start and harder to beat, Super Tennis got you covered!
