Ultimate Racing 2D does deliver in the aspect of bringing just about everything to the game. There are too many vehicles for a small game like this and I say this seriously. The choice between what to drive alone, is more than my initial expectations. I went in expecting “another one of those simplistic top-down racers” but I got more than I bargained for.

When I had finally decided what to play, I ran into my first speedbump. I suck at this game and am not ashamed to admit it. Going even further, I had to tweak the difficulty down to easy to get a win in. My skills at racing games are known among my friends and I rarely win a single race against them and Ultimate Racing 2D was no exception. Not winning a single race against my friends, I know where I stand.

But in itself, this game was not annoying me or anything. I was having fun, just not coming in first or even second. Even the computer driving has me beat every time. But it is fun enough to keep playing. Maybe the simplicity is what appealed to me and what led me to keep driving.

Ultimate Racing 2D for me was just another racing game, so you will know already how it will end up getting rated. I did have some fun with it, but not enough to say this game is a game I will remember down the line. But in all honesty, the variety is what really impressed me. I would say the sheer madness of everything pushed the game up an entire point. I do feel this game would be very great party material. I did have my most fun while playing with friends.

In conclusion, I often think all these games are exactly the same, but Ultimate Racing 2D did set itself apart from the rest by providing tons of options, like mentioned before enough to up the score. In itself though, the game did at times come off as lackluster and some bland sound effects. I did feel those could have added to the fun instead of just being so “normal”. Controls were as to be expected and I assume so will be my score.
