Opinion: Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Remakes are DLC?

Before the announcement for Let’s GO Pikachu&Eevee a lot of new gen 1 merch was released and Eevee & Pikachu had gotten a lot more attention. Now there’s a ton of merch coming with Sinnoh content… Is it happening?

The biggest meme on Pokémon social media channels is “Sinnoh remakes when?”. We think that the stars are aligning in favor of Diamond&Pearl remakes for Nintendo Switch. And here’s why it would be perfect in 2020:

A major PokéTuber called Paul Ryan has an online shop “Pokéshopper” and he claims to hold information that a massive amount of merchandise is coming featuring Sinnoh Pokémon such as Pachirisu and the legendaries. Ryan also says that listings have already begun in Japan for the merch itself by manufacturers like Bandai. The leak claims that the items are listed for december 2019 and further into 2020.

Remakes are due every 5 years. We’ve already had Kanto (twice!), Johto and Hoenn remakes and to complete the list it would mean that Diamond & Pearl would be released on Nintendo Switch as the next batch of remakes. Fans are already pleading for actual full remakes and not a release under the “Let’s Go!” subseries. Talking about Let’s Go!; A rumor suggests that Johto would be next under this Let’s Go! series’ banner and that Game Freak is planning to add a “japanese language learning” gimmick to this set of games to make them more educational and “less empty” after the mixed reviews of LGPE.

Pokémon GO! has Giratina suddely reappearing in 5 star raids around the Globe this month until mid October too so it might all be part of a hype-building plan all along.

“There are still many mysteries to be unraveled about the Renegade Pokémon!”

Sword and Shield are releasing very soon and we all know Pokémon doesn’t wait too long to promote or at least tease the next set of games especially if they’re remakes.

The new anime has also been teased and some scenes show older regions too as if they’ll revisit places outside of the all new Galar region.

It would give Game Freak more time to add the new models of the remaining Pokémon to be included and make the Sinnoh remakes the definitive generation 8 versions…

With all the backlash on Sword&Shield’s incomplete national pokédex it would make sense to have the Sinnoh remakes as a kind of “DLC” remakes to complete the full pokédex for Generation 8. It would give Game Freak more time to add the new models of the remaining Pokémon to be included and make the Sinnoh remakes the definitive generation 8 versions with a complete national pokédex. They could revamp the postgame story to add all the other Pokémon and the map has multiple locations where a new “wild area” could be added to continue this genius social multiplayer aspect from the Galar region.

So what do you think? Are you ready for Sinnoh remakes? Let us know in the comments!
