Hands-on: One hand clapping

What if your voice, was the most powerful weapon in the universe? One hand clapping gives you a glimpse of “what could be” if we all would listen to that inner voice that guides us and protects us along the way. Our voice is unique and even though our sound is fairly known to us, we are most of the time ashamed using it and therefore don’t speak loud enough to hear us…

THQ Nordiq has announced that they will be overviewing a new type of game that hasn’t been seen before. A truly unique experience that’s different for each player out there. We are talking about “One hand clapping” where the sound of your voice is key to make a Utopian like world where everyone can be who they are and don’t have to worry about other people comments. This may sound a bit “over the top” but this is the idea that made “One hand clapping” a reality.

One hand clapping is all about our inner voice taking form. Our inner voice is represented by a droopy character in search of itself and making the world a better place. Using the tools to your disposal and the process of getting “somewhere” is the main focus of the game. One hand clapping forces you to use your voice in ways you probably don’t want to use them. The game is filled with puzzles and mini-games where the sound of your voice is the solution to all of your problems. As a player, you control your inner voice which is presented by a “depressed” kind of figure. This figure might look weak and play the sheep role, it has an amazing force to be reckoned with. Your character has an amazing power that will overcome every obstacle. Using your voice with high and low tones will help you in reaching places you never been before.

The game protagonist is a depressed figurine in search of itself. Along its journey, you will find obstacles to overcome. It may seem like your lost and feel powerless, but believing in yourself and using the different tones of your voice will take you farther than you might even know. The game will confront you with different puzzles that can be solved by using the correct tones of your voice. It’s all about getting out that comfort zone and get acquainted with the possibilities of your voice. You will have to repeat a creature’s song to build a bridge between point A and B. Some bridges can only be built if you solve the “tone” puzzle. A circle will appear with different balls and it’s up to you to figure out the right tone to get these “balls” moving. Figuring out the right tone might be a hassle but it’s always a satisfying feeling to solve the puzzle. Especially because you have to get out of your comfort zones and hone your tone skills. It’s a unique experience that not many games have.

I played a demo build but if you would like to try out the game yourselves, it’s possible to download it through Steam. The demo you probably would play is a work in progress and will probably change in the near future. The developers made it clear that the game needs some polishing but in the end, it will be a game with a duration of 4 hours. These 4 hours will be filled with different mini-games where sound plays a big role. The developer also told us that the players can expect a more varied collection of mini-games: using your tones, clapping, rhythmic events, … Be sure to check them out!

To hear more of “One hand clapping”, stay tuned for more. The game will probably release in 2020 on Xbox One, SWITCH, mobile devices, PC and PS4.
