As the trip is worth nothing unless it is shared, V-Rally 4 has a Career mode and an innovative online mode to transform your experience and progress.
I admit I suck at racing games, usually, I find it incredibly hard to properly play them and adapt to the gaming mechanics. I rarely manage to properly drift or even go into a corner at the right speed. Suffice to say, a game like V-Rally provides a serious challenge for a driver like me. Racing games literally represent the complete opposite of how I drive in real life.
V-rally, however, managed to captivate me and I enjoyed it a lot more than I originally anticipated. Steering is quite comprehensive and responsive. I still missed a ton of turns at the beginning, but slowly but surely improved enough to actually not just end last. Career mode is fun when you finally get the hang of things.
Graphically, this game is top notch. Providing us with outstanding graphics that are at the top of the food chain on Switch. I love the versatility in cars and race tracks. This game brings the A-game to the Switch, for real.
So where are the bad points?
This game is very classically oriented towards racing fanatics and not for the beginner. If you are looking for an easy-to-get-into game, look at other games like Mario Kart. V-Rally is for experienced racing enthusiasts and it shows. Career mode is a task in itself that requires dedication and skill, Dealers can be used to find better cars, really so many editing possibilities that it becomes hard for inexperienced racers to find their way.
In conclusion, everything about this game shouts racing enthusiasts will love it. Earn money by winning basic races in order to buy bigger and better gear. Equip that gear to upgrade even further to advance down the line to become the ultimate racing champion.
With some fine tunes playing in between tracks, head down to the garage to even buy a new car, this game has a lot going on in between actual races. It is fun to play and surprisingly comprehensive to learn.
I would not recommend this game for casual gamers, but for the creatures of habit in the genre.
