State of Anarchy: Master of Mayhem is a hilarious shooter that will put a smile on your face. You were an ordinary citizen in a small town… Now it’s on fire! Rioters are storming the houses, aliens rampage in the sky! Run as fast as you can! Shoot anything that moves! Do not release the gas pedal!

To be more precise, it is a twin-stick shooter unlike any other. Mostly sporting graphics of what the 5-year-old me would make, this game is fun and challenging and annoying all in one.

It is FUN because it is easy to learn and master. Sure, I had some issues driving a car and shooting, but as quickly as the guns were able to fire, was I able to take em down.

It is CHALLENGING to make the right decisions when you need to upgrade. A wrong move might work counterproductive as you may have gained speed but what is speed if you needed more firepower or damage.

It is ANNOYING for all the good reasons, you just can not put it down. My first gameplay, I knew nothing of the game really and before I knew it, I was at 2 am on a working day and I disliked the addictive nature the very next day.

As a twin-stick shooter with very silly graphics, you do know which enemies are more dangerous than others. The art style might be very simple, yet it does convey what direction you need to take. Go for the small fry around you or to really start firing at the big flying object that is heading straight for you.

Every level, you get a new weapon and you get very little time to get used to them. The action picks right up after finishing a level. No rest for the weary. Prepare to keep being immersed into the action and I did enjoy that fast pace very much. There are the occasional “cutscenes” but those were just a few stills, enough to convey the story. Like when you traveled to that planet…

In conclusion, this State of Anarchy: Master of Mayhem game is a mouthful but also a handful as it is both hectic and fun. It takes a little to fully get used to stuff like the driving of cars, but that is just a minor detail. Overall the game plays nice and the graphics, while simplistic, befit the game very well. I doubt it would be as fun to play with high-end graphics. I think the appeal would not be there.

Spread over 48 levels of fun, tons of weapons and possible upgrades, it is more than just a twin stick shooter though it might not be what many seek in a game of this making. I recorded some direct feed gameplay which will be up on our YouTube channel if you want to see how fun this game really was.
