Thank you for this opportunity. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Joseph and I am 31 years old. I studied Computer Networking and Repair in college and after that, I spent 3 years living and teaching English in different parts of China. When returning to America I met my wife and got married and we now have a daughter who is 18 months old. When we moved to Nashville we decided to give running a business a shot and opened our first, Super Game Video Games.
What was the first system and game that got you into video games?
My first Console was the Nintendo Entertainment System and my first game was Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt!
Super Game Video Games is a relatively new store in Nashville, TN. For those unfamiliar, can you give us the history and mission of your store?
My wife and I had thought about starting a business of some kind. I have played and loved video games my whole life and have also done quite a bit of selling and trading online; so I decided to give a retro game store a shot. We would like to provide not only retro games, but also obscure and hard to find items.
When a customer walks into your store, what can they expect to find?
We carry NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, NDS, 3DS, Wii, Wii U, PSX, PS2, PS3, PS4, Xbox, 360, and Xbox One Games. We also carry standard and some modified consoles, along with ROM Hacks, Anime, Manga, Movies, Comic Books and Japanese Imports.
Here’s one to get you thinking! If you had an unlimited budget, what would you want to add/change to the store?
Definitely would have to be location, first of all, and then the interior design. Not that I don’t already like what we have, but if I had an unlimited budget it would be totally decked out! I would have tons more Consoles and more rare and obscure stuff.
Is there anything new in the works for your store that you can tease today?
We are about to have a lot of new inventory show up soon after this Easter Holiday that I am pretty excited to carry. I hope to hold a giveaway and raffle in the future.
Let’s quickly “switch gears”. What are your thoughts on the Switch?
I think the Switch looks fantastic and I cannot wait to play Mario Odyssey when I have the time.
What new game(s) are you most looking forward to playing?
Mario Odyssey, Far Cry 5, and Sea of Thieves are a couple of recent titles that I would like to play. As far as upcoming games that I am very excited for I would have to say the Final Fantasy VII Remake, RE2 Remake, and Death Stranding.
Before we wrap this up, is there anything else you would like to share that I didn’t touch upon?
I would have to say that I am also looking forward to the Dragon Ball Super Movie, Season 3 of My Hero Academia, Season 3 of Attack On Titan, Season 8 of Game Of Thrones. Let’s also not forget Infinity War!
