The VR – era is upon us and we have some different machines we can use to experience this new gaming experience. Of course, not everyone will experience this new world of futuristic possibilities just because all of these machines needed to run these kinds of machines are just too expensive. For those, who haven’t tried this new way of gaming, don’t worry you’re not really missing out but maybe it’s about to change…

Even though all these systems become more optimized every day, the gaming industry just can’t seem to follow. A lot of projects don’t turn out what the developers praised it to be and that’s a shame. Even though I love the fact that all of these developers want to do something different, hoping their game would be the next big thing, it doesn’t seem to work out as they hoped for. Maybe it’s just time to go back to our roots and experience basic fun gameplay, maybe this we’ll be our last hope to actually experience fun for a while and get a game that’s worth its money… maybe Serious Sam is here to save the day?
Serious Sam – the VR experience is definitely a game people should buy when they own a VR system. Even though the gameplay is kind of straight forward, it’s an enjoyable experience with lots of action and fun hectic moments. The game goes back to its roots, just some hardcore, no brainer shooting. A lot of VR games are actually trying to be new and give an extremely deep social experience with the VR systems. A lot of these games are focused with lots of puzzling and making choices within this virtual world, but sometimes you just want to put on your VR headset after a busy day of work and blast some monsters as quickly as possible, just to relieve your from stress, even if you only have some minutes and a lot of these games forget that the basics of a game should be, pick up and play and that’s what Serious Sam is all about.

Serious Sam VR is just a straight forward game. Pick up a weapon, aim and shoot until all enemies have been utterly destroyed. The basic goal is simple: survive wave after wave, until the path ahead of you is cleared from monsters. The look and shoot mechanic within this game just feels natural and that’s a big plus! However, it takes some time to get used of the movement controls. You’re using buttons to teleport a couple of meters ahead of you but there are also buttons that let you strafe from left to right or buttons that help you turn around your character. Strafing and teleporting is the way to go if you want to survive this hectic shooter but the turning buttons are available to repositioning yourself after a fight.
Just point, shoot and survive.
What makes the game stand out from all those other shooter games is the fact on how simple it actually is. Just point, shoot and survive. Most of the new shooters try to be complex, just because a game can become complex with all of these extra available options within this VR world. Sometimes it’s fun to play a more complicated game but not always. It just rids you of your gaming mood.

The game starts off very slow and easy but once you’re further into the abyss, you’ll start to notice that there’s more to it than meets the eye and once you figured it out, the abyss starts looking back and it will send out hordes of small enemies with a couple of biggies on the side. Then it’s all about keeping your cool when hordes of enemies try to flank you from all sides. It’s a wave shooter that’s easily accessed thanks to the natural programming of the controllers. Just trust your instincts and let those bullets fly. I mean, you can even carry two guns at the same time, just create your own epic moment of bullet-spraying in different directions that you’re not even looking at and enemies will just drop like flies. It’s not about skill but it’s all about feeling Serious Sam.
The look and shoot mechanic within this game just feels natural and that’s a big plus!
Even though, it’s just pointing and shooting there’s a bit of strategy that you’ll have to take into account. Miniguns are good for spraying towards hordes of small enemies but bigger enemies need some more precision shots, these can be achieved by shooting with a shotgun or a rocket launcher. Let those puppies out! There’s a big collection of guns for you to use, play the ones that feel right!

Conclusion:
When you have a VR system and want to relive some classic moments, this is definitely a must. It’s easy to use and the game is all about blasting your way through hordes of enemies, what’s not to like? There’s a great variety of controls and it’s basically aiming and shooting. It feels like an arcade game with some story elements but it can be neglected because the main reason why you’ll be loving this game, is just the basic “natural” like shooting. Get that finger on that trigger!
